Hi! I'm Lesley, and a PSP user since it was on floppies. Still have them somewhere! I'm 66 and retired early, in 1999, when my husband turned 65. We both have had cameras all our lives, now using digitals, and love the 'digital darkroom' as opposed to having to work in cramped quarters with smelly chemicals. Not only that, we can have the TV on at the same time!

I'd like to say Welcome to all those that have stopped in to at least say Hi, and introduce themselves. Some of course have been members for some time, and received the email by accident. It still is great that you took the time to check in..
@Ron G...
Happy to see you pop in, and hope you are getting settled-in with your new job. What might that be? Playing Sax in a major orchestra, performing on broadway, or directing some major production?

Another New User!
Hi there,
Been into computers for several years, with my main interest being Flight Simulation.
Now starting to get into video editing with the wife having bought me a Panasonic DVD Disk Digital Camera.
Have been using ULead Video Studio version 9 for a month or two (present from my wife) and having some success with it. Nice front end but lousy manual which explains all the programme's features but not really any advice on what they are for and how to use them. I understand that Video Editing will be a long learning curve - glad I found this forum to help. Looks like you have some tutorials which will help where the programme provides none.
Right now, my problem is trying to burn a project of 1 hour 48 minutes onto a Verbatim Dual Layer DVD-R disk. The burn which takes some three hours or more always fails with the message "error writing to target device - check or reboot"
I have succesfully loaded video into the programme from the mini RAM disks which the camera uses - the DVD Writer is an LG Super Multi GSA-H42L DVD Writer which supposedly is dual layer capable. I have also successfully burned two previous projects (holiday video) edited in UV onto standard Verbatim DVD-R 4.7GB disks.
Don't really know why this burn is failing.
Anyway, nice to be here - will be looking around for answers to problems and trying to get to grips with this new venture!

Newbie here. My name is Kathleen, 48 and live in Missouri. I used to own two doberman pinschers and fell in love with the breed, hence the name "Dobies".
I work for a non-profit group and needed to figure out how to do video editing. Used Windows Movie Maker and it just didn't have all the features I needed. I'm looking at SVP right now and it seems to be working okay. I look forward to completing my first "video" soon and seeing if I did everything okay!

In Sydney, using VS since 7SE that came with DVD burner. Great software with many different output options. Haven't upgraded since Corel took over but should upgrade sometime soon. I have looked at other video editors but some things VS just does better and easier than the others.
Good all round experience....except for a brief period in VS 8 with audio sync issues.
Very good bang for your buck....but I haven't purchased or used the Corel version of VS yet!
I have 3 very young kids so I don't have any time to edit. So at this stage of my life I'm filling the hard drive with 1000's of MB of video and pics. I'll have time later to edit......I hope!
