Hi Everyone

I am Tobie Openshaw, MarCom Manager with Corel Digital Media in Taiwan. I visit these forums when I can, and take note of what issues are raised here and pass them on to people who could hopefully do something about them. So be assured that your voice here may not always bring instant results, but it doesn't go unheard.

Hi, I'm Jim and I live in California. I've been editing for about 5 years now. I've used Pinnacle Studio 8, then ULead DVD Movie Factory 6 and Sony Vegas. I produce community theater videos, primarily for the families of the cast. It's a challenge at times getting good audio and not being able to do re-takes.

Hello everybody! I'm Sharon from North Carolina, USA. Without the folks on this great site, I would have given up on VS11 plus and probably thrown my laptop out of the window! Due to their help, my problem was solved and I've recently upgraded my VS11 plus to VS ProxX2 and look forward to lots of fun creating videos from my film. I'm 63 yrs old and have been loving computers and what they can do ever since the early 1970's. I have 2 daughters, 2 granddaughters, and 3 great grandchildren. I have lots of video on various media sources that I look forward to trying to make into great DVD's for my family to treasure. Thanks again for being here when I needed you! Sharon

Hi Everyone,
My name is Dave and I'm in Orange County, California. I am 41 years old, married, and the proud Dad of 10 year old twins (hence the screen name) and a 9 year old.

I got the shutter bug from my Dad growing up in Wisconsin. I helped physically splice regular/Super 8 film into larger spools after developing and just really jumped into it since then. Started with a full size Panasonic back in the late 80's, then a Sony Hi8 cam in 1994. Went to a JVC shortly thereafter but came back to Sony with the HDR-HC3 for the last 3 years. I too started with VS6 have upgraded at each step. There are occasions when I need to document site conditions in still and video (I perform expert witness construction defect litigation support services) most of my free time is either coaching or shooting video of my kids sports. Here's a link to some samples.

Out of this is growing another business in a somewhat unique avenue. I was asked if I would produce a Video Tribute to a friend's father who passed away. They played it at the wake and it went over huge. So, in my free time I am getting the business website going and will be launching this business by end of year. Again, a sample or two....

I also have had the luxury of shooting HD videos while scuba diving in Maui, Cozumel, Jamaica, and here in SoCal and that is AMAZING! Not many of my friends dive, but watching numerous 8' Manta rays swim right over you at Molokini Crater on a 50" plasma in clarity so rich you want to reach out and touch them, has them asking where they can go to learn.

Due to some of the previous versions' unstable performance on occasion on my computer, I have strayed from VS in an effort to see what else is out there. I've tried many packages (and had been bound and determined to learn Premiere Pro) but I keep coming back to VS because of its ease of use, familiarity, and cost effectiveness.

People always give me a hard time because I am always shooting.....dSLR stills or HD video. I just smile because I know I am passing down that love and passion for photo/video to my kids that lasts forever. I LOVE pulling out the old 8 mm films and watching my mom live life to the fullest even though she passed away when I was 16. My kids "know" Grandma Hazel almost as well as their living grandparents because of this. What more can one ask for?

I am, retired, living in the Netherlands. I am mainly a Windows98 user, but have now also a Vista laptop. My interest in this forum is the use of the older Ulead software (Plus4, Photo Explorer 2 and 8, Photo Express 5) on Vista. I installed all under Vista with some problems; and that was the reason to search the Web for solutions, so I found the Corel User to User Web forum.
I placed a first contribution: a workaround for a runtime error from Photo Explorer 8 under Vista.

hi Folks,

I'm from Canada and do hobby pieces with a Canon GL2 cam, which is a sweet little camcorder. First got into non-linear in the early 90's with a Truevision analog capture card (and some inspiration from an Amiga Toaster affectionado!), since then have enjoyed hobby pieces that incorporate music and video. I really appreciate MSP8's ease of use and friendliness to mixing formats. I like it better than Premiere 6. It's a real learning curve with codecs, compression, resolution; and to top it all off, moving into HD (which i'm terrified of)... but one must balance computer life with "beer and barbies" or one goes nuts.

thanks to all for supporting a great product.

I've been finding solutions and help for issues and problems on these forums since VideoStudio version 6 and every upgrade since.

Recently upgraded to VideoStudio Pro X2 and am a great fan of this product and it's continued evolution.

Use the product for work and home video production - when work outsources video jobs it costs about A$20,000., when I do it for them it costs them a couple of shopping vouchers! But still love it!

Thanks everyone who contributes to these forums for all you assistance over the years.

A year after my application I have been approved for this board so here goes!

I do a little bit of video (used to do lots) and was always a keen MediaStudioPro user. Sadly it seems to be on its way out but I will continue with it for a while longer still.

Very keen photogrpaher but use independent SW (Bibble and Picture Window Pro).

Look forward to discussions

As a new member of the Corel User to User Web Board I have been asked to introduce myself. :D

My name is Tadjio - a Polish name but I was born and bred in England. :?

I am a long-time user of PSP - my earliest version is 1.03, which I still have working

I have owned virtually every version since, upgrading as the new ones come out, and have recently upgraded to PSPP X2 Ultimate.

My use of PSP has increased dramatically with digital cameras. After 2 Olympus models, I reverted to Canon, and upgraded from the EOS 350D to the 400D and now the 450D.

I am an active contributor to the Corel PSP and Photography newsgroups, including their challenges.

Just a view words because I have not much time (...as always ;-) )

My name is Stefan Burger, I'm 42 years old and live in germany.

Many years ago I studied economics, but was always related (private and job) to IT and computers.

I made my first experience with computers as young man with Comodore PET2001, TI 99a and (of course) C64.

In the early years on job I programmed IBM mainframes like the systems IBM 4361, 4381, S/36, S/38 and AS400. Later I moved to LAN environments with Client/Server-Architectures and also Webbased programming.

As private person I was always interested and fascinated of things that are related to visual impression like photography, video, computergraphics. And of course I was always a big fan of visual effects within movies.

Several years ago I discovered programming of visual effects as a fascinating hobby where all those things I'm interested in seemed to fit perfectly together.

So much for now ;-)

Regards,
Stefan

My turn, I guess

Post by pennstat »

Might as well chime in.

My name is John, and I live just outside of Harrisburg, PA USA. I've been using Media Studio Pro ever since I first got v5.2VE with my Matrox Rainbow Runner card some 10+ years ago, and I've bought every version since.

Sadly, I don't know how much longer I'm going to be using Ulead products because of their abandonment of Media Studio Pro, and Video Studio simply is not powerful enough for me. :( (Sometimes my projects will use four audio and upwards of five video overlays at a time.) We'll see how that goes.

Hi there,

I am from Malvern in England. I am new to Video stuff. It is a hobby and I wish to create video content for my client's websites where appropriate.

I bought a Panasonic SD9 in March and then found out that there was no serious software with which to edit my stuff (until v12).

I am learning slowly (not enough time) but steadily. At lesat my PC is up to the job just. 4 Core 4 Mb with 750Gb main drive and 1Tb Network Storage.

Here's to my new way of spending all that spare time I don't have.
