I have installed vid 8 problem is that in audio music I have no smart sound tracks available to use should be 26 avail.My computer would not let be load the indeo programme off the disc it said debug is that the reason for the problem I am running xp :cry:

No but you must have the latest (and free) version of QuickTime on your computer before SmartSounds will load...

I think the Indeo codec is only needed for some of the sample video clips (the Extra Content) that come with UVS. As Ken said, you will need a working QuickTime V5 or later installation.

I had the same problem exactly. However, I found when I installed VS a second time, the problem went away. I didn't tweak anything at all -- just reinstalled. And the installation process seemed different, the second time. If it "hangs" or seems to, give it some time.

UVS attempts to install the required codecs, so installing it again should install what's missing / repair any damage to the registry entries.

The "hang" was probably the result of one of the codec installers being launched by the UVS installer popping up a dialog behind the full-screen installer window. That happened to me once, though I can't remember which codec was causing this -- I think it was QuickTime. If you press the Windows key or press and hold Alt-Tab, you'll be able to see and interact with the dialog for the other installer and continue normally.
