Moviefactory 6 and Vista - Project wont go past 2/3

Post by ekud1112 »

I am trying to create a DVD using DVD Movie Factory 6. I have tried multiple avi files and when I get to the menu creation (2/3) the program wont let me go to the final page to create the actual dvd. I click on the next button and nothing happens. Anyone have a clue on what is going on with the program?

AVI is not a single format. It is a "wrapper" or "container" format and it can contain almost any type of compression. (There is a code in the file-header that tells the software what codec to use.)

Your problem most-likely has something to do with your video files.

Can you give us the file properties? Where did these files come from? The Read This First post tells you what we need to know in order to help you.

The more compressed the file, the more likely you are to have problems editing or converting it. AVI/DV files (13GB per hour) from a MiniDV camcorder are the most trouble-free. If you downloaded the AVI files from the Internet, this could be a tough problem....

I'm having exactlly the same problem - and we're not alone!
People in these threads (including this one) are struggling too!

I've tried 5/6 different projects, each time using just an individual video file to test whats happening. In all cases you get to setp 2 and clicking on next does nothing - not a thing. You CAN click on the preview and it will preview your project, but again, clicking Next from there won't get you to step 3 either! I simply can't get to the step where I even have an option to burn :? As pointed out elsewhere, it doesn't appear to hang, it simply ignores the fact that I've clicked on the button!

I've tried with an imported DVD, a self made MPEG 2 from a live HQ stream, a DIVX file etc etc...NONE of them work so I don't see how it can be the file type that's the issue when ALL files types are doing it :(

I've uninstalled and re-installed but no difference.
In all cases I'm using the plain and create new DVd function and I've trie a number of 'templates' to try and elimate them as the cause too.

PLEASE help!! The thought of using Nero ...well it doesn't bear thinking about :x
