Help! I can't get my ADS USB Instant ACD device to work...
with Video Studio 8! I have read the instruction manual but it doesn't help me. The program shows that my device is connected, but it doesn't show up or record onto my computer. Help please! Private message me if you are confused about what I did! Thanks!

Please don't PM a possible solution - someone else may have the same problem.

It didn't work
Sadly, CapWiz didn't work. I think it is the Video Capture DEVICE not the program. If you have any more info please tell me but I do not expect anyone here to know this since it is an ADS product. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is this device a small (triangular?) black box with, on the front of it, red, white and yellow RCA connections and an S-Video plug, and at the other end, a USB cord?
If so, I think part of your problem might, as you suggest, be the device's limitations. It is a long discontinued product, and was only ever meant to capture mpeg-1 format in 640 x 480 frame size. It could not capture in any other format or frame size. The CD in the name suggests also that it was only ever meant to produce files (mpeg-1) which could be burned to CD i.e. VCDs (and not/not DVDs or even SVCDs, both of which require mpeg-2 video). While you could get reasonable quality on these VCDs, it of course depended on the original quality of the material being captured.
So if you are trying to capture any other format through the device e.g. mpeg-2 or AVI, you cannot do it as the device handles one format and one format only: mpeg-1...
