Best settings for uploading to Google Video?

Post by brodwidr »

Hi -

Google recommends the following settings for those wishing to upload best quality video to the Google Video service:
MPEG2 (MP# or MP4 audio) at 5 mbps
30 FPS
640 x 480
4:3 frame
de-interlace.

I'm trying to set this up under "make movie manager". I don't see a reference to "de-interlace" but I do see a reference to "Framed based" as an alternative to "upper first" and "lower first". Is this the same?

Also, what quality level gets the closest to 5 mbps .... or is there a way to specify the data rate directly?

Google link is here:

Thanks,
David

You are correct. "Frame Based" is non-interlaced.

5mbs is the same as 5000kbps. Does that help?

Depending on the playing time, 5000kbps might make a huge file. (That's a "DVD quality" setting.) Hmmm.... Their website also says 260kbps, which sounds more like "Internet quality". I assume their system/server is going to re-compress it for downloading anyway.
