WinDVD 8 Platinum HD/BD with standard (non-hd) DVD's

If I have the Nvidia 8500GT in my HTPC system, will I get a sharper picture using standard DVD's with the Platinum HD/BD version vs the standard Platinum WinDVD package? The HTPC is set to 1080I out of the video card.
