For capture, use the Pinnacle software that came with the device. Some capture hardware & software just don't "play well together". You may be able to get Video Studio to work by tweaking the capture-device settings, but in general it's just better to stick with the software that's made for the hardware.
If the Dazzle device has an audio input, connect to that, instead of to your soundcard. (Some capture devices don't have audio connections.) In either case, the capture software will multiplex the audio & video together in one file.
Once you have a digital video file on your hard drive, you can use the video editing software and DVD authoring software of your choice. (One little warning - I believe your device is MPEG only, and Video Studio can sometimes have trouble with MPEGs. And, I've read that Pinnacle sometimes has similar problems...)

thanks for the reply dvd doug will try that next time i`m playing around with it. The software that came with dazzle (it does have audio input with it
) had a burn straight to dvd with it which i did obviously iwant to edit it but i cant do that with videostudio.. can I? "Would i have to use ulead dvd movie factory? which i dont know how to use. I have bought the tutorials for ulead vs10 but am not up and running with it yet but will try and capture digital video on hard drive through pinnacle and take it from there....should i have my capture settings or project settings to mpeg when in video studio?

re audio capture
me again,
Think i`ve just answered my own question....the burn to dvd programme which came with dazzle burned fine with audio on it, i`ve just imported it in to ulead vs10 by importing dvd file to timeline and saved as " "and hey presto ive got round it that way, i have my filmto edit. Would this suggest a format problem in first place. Anyhow its unlikely i`ll be using the dazzle box often. mostly will be using my cam corder via firewire from hereon in as capture source into ulead and hopefully there will be no audio problem ...should there?

Not a format problem -- it's because Pinnacle uses proprietary hardware and are unwilling to share the secret of its operation with software manufacturers for fear that it will be commercially exploited by others.
And if in future you use Firewire capture to DV format, you should have absolutely no problems. In a sense, you are not even 'capturing', but merely transferring the video in the camera in exactly the same format and quality to your computer.
The only audio problem you are likely to encounter is if you use firewire but capture direct to DVD/mpeg-2 format on the fly and your computer is not quite up to the job. Or if you then extensively edit the mpeg-2, when a common problem is for the audio to get out of sync with the video (in which case, turn off SmartRender).
But if you stick to capturing and editing in DV format, and only convert to DVD compatible mpeg-2 after editing is complete, you should have no problems.
