I'm new to the forum but am in real need of help!
I downloaded a trial version of VS10 and worked on a project for a month period, my trial ended and I planned to burn the completed project onto DVD. It seems all free downloads of VS10 are gone so I downloaded VS11 hoping that I would be able to install, import my project and burn to DVD.
No such luck, I've imported the project and some of the settings seem to have carried over ( the Chapter Titles ) but none of the music or any of the video seems to work. The project is of a friends wedding abroad and I've the only copy of the video of the day.
Anybody got any ideas? I can't afford to spend the same amount of time starting the project all over again.
Cheers Wayne

Welcome Wayne,
When you load the project into VS11 are any error messages displayed suggesting that a particular (video or audio) clip is missing? If you do see these messages you should be given a prompt to RELINK and then those files will be found and included.

Hi JP,
It gave the message saying that a few of the audio files weren't in the right directory when I opened it so I created a directory for them using the same path as before and the music plays along with the titles but it's the video that doesn't.
The video segments all seem to have the right attributes, the lenght is correct for each one but when I click play on any clip or when I review the whole project it just plays a black screen.

Are any warning messages displayed as the project loads? Are you advised that the video clips are the incorrect length? If so this would indicate that the video clips exist but are of a different length to what they were when you added them to the project.
What is displayed in the "storyline" or "Timeline"? Do you see frames from each video clips or just a block of white (color) on black?

I've tried to re-add the video files into the Library Manager to see if that's the problem as it's only really the video that won't play.
I get the message when trying to load the video files.....has to be the reason why it won't work but I just don't know how to fix it!
" Unable to open file C:\documents and settings\newuser\....\vts_18_1.vob" File format mismatch 16803:3:1
I've tried the other file types that are in the same folder aswell and get the same error ( those files are .VDX extenions & .adx

VS11 does not allow inserting VOB files. Ulead removed that option. To insert or use VOB files you need to use the command Insert DVD/DVD-R.
I've never tried using ASF files, which are Windows Media Streaming. Now for the VDX file type, the only thing I could find on that is it is either
1. Vector Graphics File, which I do not find any support by VS for that format.
2. A Virtual Device Driver,
3. A System Driver, Example:
VMM32.VDX: system driver that checks duplicate .VXD files and switches to protected mode .
However VS10 does have the option of inserting VOB files, so if your VS10 project file used VOB, then it is not going to work in VS11.

Another alternative would be to find someone living near you who still has version 10 and would allow you to use their computer to finish your project.
Depending on how desperate you are you can still buy version 10 - have a look on Amazon.com for instance.
Be very careful if you are tempted to go to E-bay - it appears there are a number of unscrupulous people on there who sell the free trial versions.
