Way to Import Cellphone .3G2 video to VS10?

Post by johnnyelectron »

Hi,
Is there a way to convert a little 15 second 'video' from a cellphone (LG) in ".3g2" format into an AVI or another method in VS10? (audio and video)
Thanks,
John

It requires purchasing the 3GPP/3GPP2 plug-in. It used be offered by Ulead on their website, however after an extensive search, I failed to locate it. You could try doing a Google search for the plug-in. I'm sure you should be able to find someone that sells it.

Apart from the excellent advice given by vidoman, what do you expect to get when you convert the video? The resolution and frame size as well as frame rate are non DVD standard and conversion will deteriorate them drastically. These formats are meant to be used as is if you ask me. :?

Just wanted to keep it a small size and just a little 15 second blurb that can't be repeated again with regular video.

You can possibly burn it to a CD or DVD as data, then it could be viewed on a PC. However like Heinz stated if you try to convert it to DVD video the quality will be degraded. Cellphone, Pocket PC, PDAs use a format that is not only highly compressed by very highly compressed. They are not meant to be edited, just viewed.

You can use SUPER to convert your file to some other. It claims to be able to convert it.

3g2 file import

Post by mld100 »

I also was/am interested in importing 3g2 files from my Verizon phone to VS. I recognize the poor quality as has been noted but it would be a nice-to-have capability for a short snippet. In any event I downloaded and tried the latest release of SUPER and can report that super will not convert 3g2 files. It apparently will do mp4 and 3gp but not 3g2. Any body know of any way to get these files into a VS timeline?
Thank you!
