I have a Sony DCR-HC42 camcorder. When transfering video to disk it will not allow me to select the Burn to DVD. I can only use the burn VCD. I do have a DVD burner, Plextor PX-750UF. I have downloaded the latest files for it.
When I create a VCD, I dont know how to play it back.
I have resorted to copiing the .AVI file as it is creating the VCD. trouble is when I try to copy it on to a blank DVD it says it is not the correct format and wont copy.
Anyone have any short fixes, I am in Iraq w/ military and trying to send a video home for my daughter.

How exactly are you transfering your files to the PC? Via USB cable? That might be the limitating factor. Get yourself a firewire cable and transfer the DV-AVI files to the PC. Use Ulead VS or any other NLE to create your DVD compliant mpeg2 files and auther these to your DVD disk.
