Help........ Capture Issues

Hello all,
Right I have spent nearly three weeks chaning every settings I could possible find. I still cant get this damm thing to work. I have a brand new Dell with 3Gz dual proc and 2Gb or ram and a 7600gs graphics card. This machine was brought to replace an old machine that could not edit quick enough. However this new machine will not preveiw the capture in real time it plays some , then pauses then another couple. The capture is fine and the previewed audio is fine its just the video. The old machine does this fine and its about 10 times slower.

Please help.... I might go crazy if not

Ps the camera is a Sony hvr-z1e , I can capture and preview perfectly in DV just not HDV
