Image slightly cropped in moving path - why?

Post by jparnold »

Firstly I am fairly new to MediaStudio (v 7 VE) having used VideoStudio (various versions but now using 10+) for some time.
I am attempting to create a moving path using two separate video clips one in the main (Va) track and the other in the Overlay (V1) track.
I am using 2D Advanced Turn Move moving path with a keyframe mid way so that the moving path movement actually ends midway so that the 'action' stops at that point and then remains stationary.
The end 'marker' width and height is 720 - 576 (PAL - full screen) and the X and Y co-ordinates are 360 and 288 (centre).
When I view the output when the moving path motion stops the picture does not quite fill the screen (see below example) yet at the very end of the clip it does fill the screen.
Why is this?
Project properties are DV PAL 16:9
Video clips are DV (AVI) 16:9

I am not sure of what application you are using (MSP or VS), and what is going on.. It seems to me, however, that you may have a border in your picture. Try the following: call the Moving Path filter, click on Options and then zero the Border slider. Hope this will help.

If I understand your problem, here is my recommended solution. You mentioned that the height and width of the video at the end keypoint is PAL - full screen and that the video at that point jumps to fill the screen. If you want the clip to be "full screen" at the point that the moving path stops, then you need to set the height and width to the full screen dimensions (720x576) at the keypoint where the "action" stops. Then, since the dimensions (720x576) will remain unchanged from that keypoint until the end, the clip will remain full screen during that entire period.

Of course, this means that the clip will "grow" to the full screen as it is approaching that keypoint and that might not be the effect you are looking for. But, the bottom line is that if the first place you have the 720x576 dimensions is the keypoint at the very end, that is when you are going to jump to full screen.
