Recently buy Ulead Movie factory 3-DC, then update patch, then bought new Ulead Movie Factory 4-DC and update over old DMF3DC, and many functions not work and make all the times errors. For example, click to DVD data "burn now" cause error. In slide show click to "add slideshow" cause error. (Not investigated all other errors, because of sadly disappointment. All errors reported to Microsoft .
- Question: maybe is wrong way to upgrade Movie factory 4 to Movie factory 3 after updating patches? Does somebody have similar experience?
- My computer: Intel Pentium 4, WinXP pro-SP2, 3.2GHZ/1GB DDR400 RAM /G:80GB,NTFS, H:80GB,NTFS, D:250GB,NTFS (there is no C: disk!)
Thank you in advance for answer,
Milan

Installation problems with MF4-DC
I had a similar problem. When I installed MF4-DC over MF3-DC it claimed it was uninstalling MF3 but it was still there after a reboot. I then uninstalled MF3 through Control Panel/uninstall but then MF4 did not work properly. So I uninstalled and reinstalled MF4 and it seems OK now though I have not used it much. My MF4-DC was an upgrade so if MF3-DC is your only Ulead product you might have problems if you remove MF3 first. I havd other Ulead products installed which also qualified for the upgrade so the reinstall did not need MF3 installed.

Thank you both, David_S and Lwolff123 for an answer.
David, I think you are right about uninstalling MF3, but only first time, now I'm not sure: (I was try reinstall MF4 over MF3 again and it remove old program, but not MF3):
?---------------------------
Question
---------------------------
"A previous version of Ulead DVD Player exists on your computer. Click Yes to remove it and install the new version, or click No to exit."
---------------------------
>Yes< >No<
---------------------------
Setup firstly remove old DVD Player and install new one and continue to end of whole procedure. Then ask for reboot. (I hurry first time, so not sure what actually setup was removed at first attempt)
-----------------------
Now two of main problems which I have when try to run some of applications from Ulead DMF4CD "Launcher":
1. - Create (Music DVD, Data DVD, or CD etc..) it run "Ulead Burn. Now - ....." and new window appear:
"Ulead Burn. Now has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
...
"Please tell Microsoft about this problem"...
...
(Error signature)
AppName: burnnow.exe AppVer: 2.0.0.0 ModName: sh_treectl.dll
ModVer: 4.0.0.0 Offset: 00015336
------------------------------------
2. - If you click to Create Slideshow CD (or DVD), firstly work, but when new screen appear and then click to "add slideshow" again error message:
"Ulead Burn. Now has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
...
"Please tell Microsoft about this problem"...
...
(Error signature)
AppName: dvdmf.exe AppVer: 4.0.0.0 ModName: sh_treectl.dll
ModVer: 4.0.0.0 Offset: 00015336
-------------------------------------
In both application error is the same in "sh_treectl.dll" so I think that this dinamic link library cause main problem in all suspicious programs.
----------------
----------------
----------------
Now, as Lwolff123 recommend me, I was try next: uninstall all related programs, and put setup CD in CD_ROM, and....
"Error: Setup can't find any Ulead products on your hard disk. Please select where your Ulead products (such as setup disk or CD) are. >ok<, >cancel<"
This mean that is enough put setup CD on CD-drive and setup program will recognize it. I was expect dialog box to point where is my setup CD.
But no, there is not such a things. If you click to OK, next screen appear:
"Please enter the location where you would like to install the program. You may type a new folder name or click the Browse button to find a new location."
In empty window you can now enter folder on hard drive where you like to install the program, but... again wrong! (next message window appear:)

Installation problems with MF4-DC
Milan - I know the feeling of frustration. And I have never found Ulead Tech help much use in solving problems. Before loading new programs now I generally make a Drive Image of my C drive first so that if things go wrong I can at least go back to my pre-insatllation configuration and start again.
I suspect that in your case the best route to follow is also to uninstall and clean all traces of MF3 and MF4 from your computer including the registry and start again. A pain I know! Good luck - David
PS I have not got round to trying my MF4-DC out yet so have not met any of the problems you have.

Thanks God, problem solved!
Thank you David and all people here.
Yesterday talk with Microsoft Croatia, and they recommend me the same procedure of deleting all traces of existence of programs in registry and reinstall all programs again. But, problem is not there!!!!
Since I have Serial-ATA hard drive which is a Third Primary IDE HDD, this drive is at letter C:, but since had problems with this disk, I install WinXP to Primary Master IDE HDD which got letter G: (Parallel disc)...
Then my stupid action: I was try change this letter to C:, but first must change C: to D: or so... Then was try change system disk, but not success. So C: is changed to D: and I forgot back this letter to C: ...
So, without C: drive, Ulead programs make this error when attempt to read which disks are attached to this computer. This is bug in program and need to be corrected. Now, I back letter of S-ATA disk from D: to C: and program now work....
(New motherboards have four IDE parallel channels and two or more serial IDE channels, but drive letter not follow order as I expected; Primary Master (C: , Primary Slave (D: , Secondary Master (E: , Secondary Slave (F: , Third Master (G: , Fourth Master (H: ...) Third and Fourth Master have letter C: and D: respectively, but only if Serial-ATA disks are attached, if not, letters of drives are as usually... this confused me, and after few reinstallations of WinXP I gave up of reinstalling again and again until all drives get right letter. (There is one little trick; disconnect all S-ATA drives, install System, then connect back all S-ATA disks, and then System will be on C: disk, instead at G: like in my case.)
Cheers,
Milan
