Analog capture device with VS 11+ under Vista

Post by rgingras »

What analog capture device will be compatible with VS 11+ and running under Vista?

I currently have a Dazzle DVC 90 and it is not compatible with vesion 11.

Have you checked the Dazzle website to see if they have issued anything e.g. a new driver, which might update your device?

I know that Plextor has just released (30 April) a new capture device which has been updated to be compatible with Vista. Check their website. It looks relatively cheap and Plextor of course has a very good reputation.

Adstech may also have done so by now, though I don't know for sure. But you can bet your boots that if they haven't yet, one will soon be released. Again check their website.

Getting capture-software and capture-hardware working together can be hit-or-miss. Most of the time you are better off using the capture software that came with the device for the capture step. (I use the Hauppauge software with my Hauppauge capture card.)

Once you have a digital video file on your hard disk, you can use the video editing and DVD authoring software of you choice.

-------------------------
My theory is that video capture drivers are not as standardized as more-common computer peripherals, like printers.

You would think things would have improved with Vista... But, maybe Microsoft isn't concerned about old-outdated analog video... :?
