Hello, I don't think I've seen this problem posted when scanning the forum, but I hope I'm not bringing up an old topic...
I have a Sony AVCHD Camera, and have created a DVD using the Sony Software that came with the camera (Picture Motion Browser). I've messed around with VideoStudio's free download this past month a fair amount and created a DVD for myself using the same footage. I noticed today when playing them both, that the DVD created from PMB was superior in quality than the DVD produced by VS.
All I did was download the AVCHD files, create them in order in the project screen, added a couple of titles, and then used the Create Disk function to make the DVD with VS.
Is there something I'm missing here when creating a DVD? Any one else have a similar issue creating DVD's with quality difference from PMB and VS??

Hi
This is only an assumption:-
I do not use a Sony AVCHD Camera, but can imagine that the properties of the mpeg files being slightly different to VS default settings.
When you go to Share create Disc the files will be converted prior to burning. (convert Title) This may reduce quality.
By converting prior to burning Share--Create Video File¡X¡¥Same as first video¡¦ will render/create a new Mpeg 2 to the original settings.
Using this Mpeg to burn a Dvd.
Start a new project.
You need to set the project properties the same as the video files.
This being done, no further rendering will take place other than the creation of menu¡¦s.
Share Create Disc¡XAdd Video
Hope this Helps

In this case as posted above the option "Same as first clip" is probably greyed out. But you can change your project settings to match you source video(s) and use "Same As Project Settings". This is a different method though of creating a dvd and you usually need more instructions how to create the dvd. More detailed instructions can be found in the tutorials secion at the bottom of the forums main page. All I did was download the AVCHD files, create them in order in the project screen, added a couple of titles, and then used the Create Disk function to make the DVD with VS.
You said you just performed a search, I just did a search using AVCHD and selected the VideoStudio Forum, this came up with 61 hits.
