Buttons not working
Three days now and no response from Tech Support. Their auto generated email said I would receive a response within 1 business day. They have not responded to my subsequent prompts for a response.

Hi etech,
Yes, I purchased the software in a retail box from my local store. I registered the software quoting all the relevent information including the Serial No.
For your Info. This has now turned into a saga.
I submitted a request for Technical Support about a week ago. After several prompts they responded with this message.
" After carefully reviewing this incident it is recommended that you call into our technical support center for further assistance. .... Due to the nature of this particular issue, and the need for interaction, contacting Corel directly via telephone will provide you with a quicker and more tailored solution for the issue you are facing." This was sent by someone called N Duay.
As there is no Tech Support in Australia they suggested I call UK.
After waiting on the line for 35mins the Tech Suport person I spoke to had not heard of the person who sent the email. She was obviously under stress and after reading my query, was unable to help me. She said the only person who could help, I assume in the whole of UK, was someone called Tony who had gone to a Trade Expo and would not be available until the middle of next week. She was anxious to end the conversation. I insisted that she put me through to someone else who could assist. After another long wait I was put through to a woman who I thing may have been in their German Centre as her English was poor. She could not help me, she also said she was too busy but would look my query after she had finished work and would contact me if she could solve the issue.
This is where it stands.
I still have the problem and Ulead seem to be either unable or unwilling to assist.
So it looks like, in the absence of any sensible resolution to this problem, I'll throw the software in the rubbish bin and buy Nero or some other DVD authoring package.
Regards
Gerry

Purchase Software from Fry's
Hello,
I purchased the software from my local retail shop (Fry's Electronics, CA, US). I have yet to register the software but will do as soon as I can, as I had to go through the hastle of going back and getting another CD to try.
I'll try to submit an email and see if I have better luck than gerosm.
I myself have been in the software (development and support) field for some time and have seen cases where the CDs are defective from the production line. If that's the case a very simple workaround would be for them to verify that we trutly purchased the full copy of the product by either faxing or email a scan picture receipt plus a photo copy of CD and serial number. Once confirm I'm assuming that they can authorize for us to get the electronic download version instead. I'm also wondering if the issue has also been experienced with users that have the download instead.
Again, I highly suggest the support group and/or product management of the product test it using the CD that comes from manufacturing rather than using the download or the final release copy from their internal network drive. This test should be fairly simple to do.
I know I might be just an "end-users" but have invested money on the product that I expect to work, specially if the same features work with an earlier version. I don't understand why product management will decide to remove features that once existed in an older versions, I wonder what was the business case behind it.

Good valid points about the CD version and possible defects.
Ulead supply my copies by way of download and so I guess to some degree I am their tester of that version!
Regarding stuff being taken out that existed in earlier versions there are two reasons why this might occur.
1. Problems in earlier versions - such as album transitions in VideoStudio - may be too complex to fix and so they simply remove the problematic ones.
Sort of like the Sinclair C5 - it was a good idea at the time!
2. Changes to Windows - such as Vista - prevent certain things from working.
Such as WDM devices are not supported by Vista.

demolina,
Before you installed MF 6 was there any other ulead software on your computer?
In other words was there a C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems Directory.
Did this directory exist before installing MF6 with the CD?
Is this the MF6+ (plus) version or the Standard Version?
We have found the problem on our end. Good news for us, not good news for some users.

Buttons not working on burnt DVD
Don't hold you breath on getting any answer from Ulead. Now 10 days since I lodged a Tech Support request. Still nothing. Software is useless for my needs with this bug. I have removed it from my PC.

Hi etech,
Thanks for the reply and update. Actually yes, I had purchased the Inter DVD Copy. I also had downloaded the trial version MF6+ from the web to test it first before buying it. After I bought it, I uninstalled the trial version and proceeded in installing the one I purchased from the store. That version was the "Standard" version not the plus.
Due to other issues, I've gone and re-format my HDD and reinstalled the OS. I currently have a clean install, and have added MF3.5 only. Please let us know (if possible) the details of the problem found, whether is a conflict with other ulead software or an actual bug on the software. I'm assuming if this is a software conflict there must be some type of feasiable workaround, else we'll need to wait for it to be resolved in the the next (hopefully?) or later patch.
Hi Sjj,
Thanks for the reply and clarification. I can see how and why some of the features might be removed. In my years of experienced I think the OS (Microsoft specially) seems to be one of the biggest obstacles for a lot of software manufactures. I also understand the complexity of some bugs that a re-design is just too much work at the end when the demand is not high.
Hopefully we can see a light at the end of the tunel. Please keep all of us posted.
Thanks.
