MF 6 Plus - "Show Highlight Button" not working!

Hello Everybody,
I did one final test on a clean PC : "DMF6+ try before you buy" versus "DMF6+ retail CD"
Well the try before you buy version offers highlight features, that means that you can see which item on the screen has the focus on. That means that one can navigate through the DVD. Whereas the retail version does not offer this feature, so that makes DMF6+ retail completely useless.
I feel pissed off by all this, mostly by the fact that Ulead doesn't do anything to solve this, even denies the fact that there is a problem (at least Ulead France).
It's not so much that the software is expensive, but after consulting a lawyer, it would be advisory to force Ulead to withdraw DMF6+ from the market and have all the users be refunded. This won't certainly be an isolated case...
I wonder how Ulead will be reacting soon...
Best regards to all

Hello Sjj1805,
Well there are only 3 menu templates provided with the TBYB version :
06_SceB05
06_OneS09
06_Text07
They all have the highlight feature, which is what one can the least expect from a DVD menu. Otherwise no means of navigation!!!
Whereas DMF6+ retail, I bought over the shelf, none of its menu templates offers the feature of highlighting the menu item which has the focus on. This means that one cannot navigate, since you don't know where you are!!!!
I do not understand why asking all these questions, previous versions of DMF obviously worked well (personnaly I own DMF2, DMF2.5SE, DMF3). Why suddenly has this very usefull, sorry elementary, feature been removed ?
I prefere to ask how can this be corrected finally ? Instead of being forced to return to an old version of DMF and throw DMF6+ in the trashcan!
Best regards sjj1805

Hello again sjj1805,
I would like to add that although DMF6+ retail has highlight features working on PC DVD players (like intervideo, nero, zoomplayer, etc), that same feature does not work on standalone players, which obviously many other users are experimenting. Don't say that it might be due to the brand of the player, it worked in the previous releases of DMF, I know that for sure. Now it doesn't work anymore, it is the software and nothing else. At least the retail version not the TBYB

There isn't a problem for Ulead to be made aware of.
As I have stated previously some of the DVD Menu Templates have been designed to include highlight images. Some of the DVD Menu templates have been designed to use the s1,s2,s3,a1,a2,a3 system.
Your full version of DVD MovieFactory should include a mixture of both types of DVD Menu template. I have also checked your 3 named DVD Menus and they work fine on my copy of DVD MovieFactory 6+ - these are all templates that include highlight images.

It's not a question of Show highlights during authoring. The issue is that the button highlights after creating the DVD do not show on set-top dvd players.

Hi Steve,
Seems like this thread is getting nowhere. George is correct. I have tried multiple templates including the ones you specified, all work perfectly when played back on the PC prior to DVD burning. After burning the navigation buttons DO NOT work on a stand alone DVD player. I have tried several, including a couple in my local Retail shop none of the templates work. I have a retail version of MF6, so I would expect that this version is bug free. Many people in this thread over the last couple of month have said exactly the same thing. So please no more "its not a problem"
I have MF v3 , all templates work perfectly on a stand alone DVD play. I realise that you are only the administrator of this Web Board. But does anyone in Corel understand the problem and more importantly are they doing anything to fix this obvious bug?
At the moment this software is useless for my needs.
Thanks

Re: The highlights don¡¦t work on both XP or Vista
Does Tuneup have features similar to TweakUI / TweakUiPowertoys ?noyuck wrote: ... I have chosen to completely reload Windows and start from scratch. I loaded Windows XP Professional, then updated through the Windows Update website to Service Pack 2, Internet Explorer 7, and Windows Media Player 11. I installed only those programs which I required most.

TuneUp Utilities 2007 ...
Can you restore all your "tweaks" back to their windows defaults ? I got rid to all tweak programmes years ago as they usually cause crazy problems down the line.

Ulead Videostudio 10 - thumbnails won't highlight
I've just produced a DVD using videostudio 10 and have the same problem as other people are experiencing with movie factory 6 - the menu looked great on the PC but when I put it into my Sony DVD player, the highlights are missing from the thumbnails/play button and it's trial and error trying to find the right clip to play.

Problem with menus not highlighting on VS10
I cured problem of the menus not highlighting on my DVD player by uninstalling Moviefactory 6 and videostudio 10. I removed all instances of Ulead from the registry and deleted the \commonfiles\ulead folder.
I then re-installed videostudio 10 and moviefactory 3 and all thumbnail highlights now work on my stand alone DVD player (Sony NS300). I have not re-installed Moviefactory 6.
However, I have ended up with a flicker on the TV with VS10 even though I selected anti-flicker, safe colours and DVD compatible buttons but as the menu is nice and crisp and flicker free in MF3, this is the version I will be using for final burning to DVD.

Maybe making headway here.
Sounds to me like another "Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems conflict.
Starting to wonder if the files residing in the ulead systems directory for MF3 or MF 3.5 installation have a conflict with MF6 or MF6+.
To determine this rename the c:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems directory to another name or move it somewheres.
Then install MovieFactory 6 so that MF6 is using the common files is was designed to work with.
If you can't rename or move this ulead systems directory then stop the program running resident in memory called "ULCDRSvr.exe", it's a ulead burner helper & runs as a service. When you stop the service from running then you can rename or move the Ulead Systems directory.
Don't just un-install MF3 because even when you remove MF3 it leaves behind these files in the common files\Ulead Systems directory. So you must manually do this.
Install MF6 will re-create this directory again with the correct files.
This may be why I haven't been able to reproduce this bug. My files under the common files\ulead systems only contain MF6+ files and no other ulead programs files.
So how many persons having this problem at one time or another had MF3 or MF3.5 installed on their computer systems. Even if you removed it doesn't matter, what's important is if it was ever installed.
Just a thought. After 5 pages we have to start making headway here. There's obviously something wrong.

Hi etech655,
Thanks for your help. Sounds far to complicated and risky. I could end up with no MF3 and an installed MF6+ that doesn't work. If what you say is correct, and I haver no reason to assume that you are incorrect, surely the Tech Support in Ulead must be aware of this problem and taking steps to solve the problem by either a patch or specific instructions on how to solve the problem. Do you know if Ulead are aware of this issue? I have lodged a Tech Support request, but to date they have not replied. First time I have had software that is not backwardly compatable. So much for testing.
Many thanks
Gerry

How can I get a full refund for DMF6?
Questions, is Ulead looking at this problem at all?
Are there any plans in fixing it?
Are the techs testing and working with the downloadable versions versus the actual CDs that are purchase from the retail stores?
As an owner or DMF3.5, (which is working as expected) is there a way I can get a full refund of DMF6 by the company? I purchase the software at a retail store, which they're not able to take the product back and get a full refund if open, only thing they can do is exchange for the same. I've exchange it once already and the same problem still exists.
