MF 6 Plus - "Show Highlight Button" not working!

Well, seeing as this issue has not occured until v5 & v6 for me...I find this very strange. Up to v4 I did not have any problems.
If your program was created to allow Users to make a DVD that would be playable on a standard DVD player, we should not be discussing this issue right now, because the last comment implies that the DVD isn't going to be playable on your average DVD player. Should I distribute this DVD to Friends and Family, they would have to own an expensive Blu-ray player or luckily have one of the DVD players that magically works with the newly created DVD, before being able to see highlights allowing them to select specific menu items.
It would be helpful to know that before purchasing this program, that perhaps a list of compatible DVD players / models be furnished...or have your QA department test on more than 1 type of DVD player at a time before releasing the product.
On a personal note, don't you find it a bit strange that 2 of my 3 DVD players won't display this? Is this just bad luck on my part? Should I take the DVD to a retailer and try it out in all brand DVD players to find a compatible one?
I thank you for the time you are taking to work through this issue with me. It is a very frustrating issue for me, because I don't understand why all of a sudden this functionality ceases to work properly.

As posted I did try an external dvd player, just played the dvd on another one being my panasonic dvd player and the highlight buttons work. With the menus that did have the highlight buttons I made a dvd, played it back in windows, linux dvd players & then an external consumer player. The highlighted buttons worked.
What I did notice though is that with some of the menu templates you posted that are having this problem on my system in the menu creation stage the highlight buttons are NOT visible, even though I do check ON, show highlight button.
So, why in the menu creation stage is your system displaying the highlight button in the menu template and mine isn't. I'm guessing this may be part of the problem.
I will have to review what templates on my system are not displaying the highlight buttons, then I'll post back which ones aren't even displaying a highlight button in the menu creation stage.
Seems strange that on your system one version of MF is working correctly and the other isn't. I don't doubt that somethings wrong. Not every system is the same. I am curious though if you have multiple versions of MovieFactory is this occuring right after installing MF6, or is MF6 doing this after installing an update to MF4 or MF5.
In other words MF6 should be the last version installed, although this can get very confusing when running multiple versions.

Looks to me like you have pointed out a bug in MF6. Or, these templates do not have highlight buttons.
To call it a bug I would think that others will have to confirm by comparing their templates in MF6+ against the ones I posted.
Either way, as posted the above menu templates on my system do not show a highlighted button(s) in the menu creation stage when "Show highlight button" is checked on.
They also do not display a highlighted button in the MF6+ preview screen.

The highlights don¡¦t work on both XP or Vista
The highlights don¡¦t work on both Windows XP Professional or Windows Vista Home Premium
To test this further on my side, I have chosen to completely reload Windows and start from scratch. I loaded Windows XP Professional, then updated through the Windows Update website to Service Pack 2, Internet Explorer 7, and Windows Media Player 11. I installed only those programs which I required most.
Programs now installed:
Acronis True Image Home
GoldWave v5.17
Nero 7 Ultra Edition
QuickTime
TuneUp Utilities 2007
Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6
WinRAR archiver
WinZip 11.1
I again tested DVD MovieFactory by making a DVD and again, the menu highlights do not display when playing it on a DVD player. I used 4 different "standard" templates that were provided with DVDMF6 and "yes" the "show highlights" button was selected.
I have not filled out a support ticket but I will do so today. I have found that you guys normally find the errors before support ever does so I have been putting it off, but maybe that was a mistake on my part. I will do that and let you know what they say. Please let me know what your testing produces also. Thank you again for you help.

But, in the menu creation stage when you do click on the "Highligh" checkbox the Highlight Buttons should immediately appear on the screen, right on the screen.I used 4 different "standard" templates that were provided with DVDMF6 and "yes" the "show highlights" button was selected.
When you toggle the Highlight selection box on & off you should see the highlight buttons on the menu appear & disappear.
Does this happen on your machine? When you toggle the highlight feature on & off do they also toggle on & off on the menu?
On the machine I tested this with many of the templates do not display the highlight button at all when toggling the highlight selection checkbox on & off. This is directly in the menu creation process before previewing the video.

I can confirm that none of these menus include Highlight buttons by design.
Thanks Steve,
I notice that he referenced "06_OneS04" and "06_OneS10"
Don't know, I think he should follow George's suggestion: http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... 612#119612

I have checked the three templates mention by noyuck by opening them with PhotoImpact.
06_OneS05 - No highlights included
06_OneS04 - Contains highlights
06_OneS10 - Contains highlights
At least we now know what we are dealing with.
Perhaps he can download one or two of the samples I have created here
Member created DVD Menus to see if the highlights in those work.

frustratedusr
not working for me either
I am SO frustrated with DMF6Plus to which I recently upgraded from DMF3SE. Like the original poster, out of the 6 dvd players in my home, the highlight buttons (for scene selection) work on only ONE of those players. It works correctly in preview mode and works correctly in a computer (with either WinDVD or PowerDVD) but doesn't work for the majority of DVD players. I have Panasonic, Pioneer and Sony dvd players, 2 are very new and are actually DVD recorders as well. Two are 2 yr. old combo DVD/VCR players and 1 is 4-5 years old. The other is an off brand cheap portable DVD player that I bought for taking on vacations and THAT is the only one that works. YET EVERYTHING WORKED PERFECTLY IN DMF3SE!! I have tried different templates, different projects, two different computers, two different kinds of dvd media - with the same result. I mostly use Verbatim media and have had NO issues with it on any of my players. I have re-installed DMF6 from the CD and installed the patch from the website (it didn't seem to be relevant anyway but who knows). This issue makes DMF6 useless for me!!
I called tech support only to hear that it must be my dvd player because if it works on the computer then the software isn't the issue. YA RIGHT. So how come nearly the same exact project I did on DMF3 last year worked on every one of these same dvd players in my home, but not this year with 6?? I'm frantically searching for my DMF3SE disc so I can roll back, but can't locate it so I am screwed. I do still have my serial # for DMF3 - maybe someone out there can help me with a CD or ISO of it?
Another annoyance that has been happening to me with DMF6 is every time I SAVE and close the project, I lose all the thumbnail selections I made on the one submenu I have. I have only a main menu and one submenu. Unfortunately I have 25 chapters in the submenu so having to re-do 25 menu thumbnails every time I re-open the project is extremely annoying. At least the thumbnail selections on the main menu remain. However, I can live with it. I haven't searched the forum yet to see if anyone else is having this problem.
If anyone has ANY ideas or suggestions on the highlight button issue, I'm anxious to hear it. Thanks.

Sorry for the delay in response.
These are the Menu Templates on my system that display highlights properly in the ULead program upon selection of a template in the Display Window and Preview screen when you click "Show Highlight Button", and then don't show them when you click the "Show Highlight Button" again properly.

I have not tested all of the templates, as I do not have that many DVDs, but every template I have selected to date, does not show the highlights when played on a standard DVD player. The only exception was I was able to see them on my Blu-ray Disc player.
I also attempted to go to the link provided to see about downloading User created templates, but I need to ask if they are compatible with MF6...as they all have postings about them being for MF5...and have "05" in the names?
Thanks.

Just a quick reply for now as it is 0315am here in the U.K. so way past my bedtime.
The DVD templates created by myself and other members all work in all versions of
VideoStudio
MovieFactory
DVD Workshop - only the smartscene menus will not perform as smartscene menus - simply as standard menus.
The Menu
MF6: 8 thumbnail menu with moving path will only include the moving path function in MovieFactory 6, in other versions or programs it reverts to a non moving path menu.
I will get back to you regarding your above list.

Hello.
I uninstalled my Nero 7 program, then tried burning a DVD using template "06_OneS10", and the DVD still did not show highlights when playing on my DVD players.
I don't think there is a conflict with Nero.
Just wanted to post this update, as this was a question from Tech Support via my Tech Support Form I posted regarding this issue.
