MF 6 Plus - "Show Highlight Button" not working!

Post by noyuck »

I am having an issue of creating a DVD project with MovieFactory 6 Plus.
When selecting the Option "Show Highlight Buttons", this functionality is not burning to the DVD. However, I do see it correctly when I Preview the project in the ULead program.

I read through a few of the other postings regarding this issue, as I saw am not the first to have it. However, I did not see any solution.

I have tried completely un-installing the software, removing any remaining folders, then re-installing. This did not work.

I also tried downloading the latest patch. It still does not work.

Does someone know if this is a known bug that the developers of the Product need to fix...or if there is a fix for it? There is no way to ask ULead directly about it, as they only allow questions up to V3.5 directly via their website ( which I think is bad customer service ).

Can someone help me, as well as the other people having this issue?

Thank you.

What version number are you running (exact version number of your installed package) :?:

Also, where did you get the package (download, pre-installed, retail, etc...) :?:

Could you also identify which particular DVD template(s) you have used - also have you tried any of the other DVD menu templates.

The exact version number I am running is 6.00.0194.1.

Also, I purchased this directly from ULead Customer Service over the phone. I received a box with the software in it through the mail.

To answer the question about the DVD template I used, the template name is "06_OneS05".

I have not tried any other templates yet, but I will try some others today to see if I get the same issue.

Thank you guys for your replies and assistance.

Here's an update.

I tried creating my Project with Templates "06_OneS04" and "06_OneS10", and I had the same issue. The highlights are showing up correctly on the preview in the program, but not showing up on the burned DVD.

Now, I played the DVD on my PC using VLC Media Player and WinDVD, and I am seeing the highlights properly.

So I am curious as to why this is not burning onto the DVD to see on DVD players? You cannot see what you are selecting when you have multiple items to select on a menu.

Sorry but I haven't had chance to check the template yet but it is not forgotten and is currently held in my list of pending tasks. Might be a couple of days before I get chance.

Have you tried to play the dvd back on another dvd player?

Yes, I have played the DVD on all my DVD players in the house, which are no more than 3 years old, and have the same issue.

An update to my testing...I loaded v5 Plus and used the same 3 templates as I did in v6PLus...and had the same issue. No highlights on the buttons showing up on the DVD.

I then downgraded to v4...and to my surprise...the DVD is showing the highlights on the buttons! However, I just don't have the customization capabilities as I do with v5 Plus and v6 Plus...so my DVDs don't look as nice...but at least they work.

There must be something different with the coding between v4 and v6 Plus, regarding the burning of compatability with DVD players not part of your PC, since they can run and pull any necessary codecs and code translators to read DVDs that a normal DVD player cannot....since a normal DVD player is not attached to the PC.

Sorry it took so long before I was able to test the two menus mentioned with DVD MovieFactory 6+ - I currently have a higher workload than normal.

I created a short DVD and burned to my hard drive then opened it with PowerDVD. The highlight images for both menu templates mentioned worked perfectly on my system.

I take it you ticked the 'Show Highlight Button', if so it is possible you may have faulty templates. Perhaps moving them to a temporary location and then running a repair installation may rectify the problem.

On my installation of MF6+ not all of the menu templates have the highlght buttons.
Did you happen to copy templates over from previous installations to add more templates into MF6? It is possible but not sure about complete compatibility.

With the menus that did have the highlight buttons I made a dvd, played it back in windows, linux dvd players & then an external consumer player.
The highlighted buttons worked.

I would recommend you fill out a tech support form explaining the issue you are having with the button highlights.

"Show Highlight" not working when played on DVD Pl

Post by noyuck »

Try your DVD in a DVD player. The highlights don't show I'll bet. Yes, I agree that they work when played in a computer, but they don't when played in a real DVD player. Like I have said, I've tried 3 DVD Players. My Sony Bluray, a 1 year Samsung, and I believe the lest is a Toshiba,... I can't recall at the moment but it's either that or the Panasonic I have in the Master bedroom. Anyway, I have just reinstalled Windows because I was sick and tired of playing with this stuff and I loaded JUST MovieFactory after installing Windows and tried making a DVD with all the default settings (and the show highlights button checked). It make a wonderful video conversion and the disc looks great on the computer...... But as you can probably guess; the highlights do not display when playing it in the DVD players. I can't tell what it is I'm selecting and it is totally unacceptable. There's got to be other people having this problem. I can't be the only one here. If anyone else is reading this and experiencing the same thing; PLEASE jump in the conversation here.

Got the Sony to Work But Not The Other Players

Post by noyuck »

Okay, I just got done making another DVD and trying it in the Sony Blu-Ray DVD Player. The menu highlights work on that player but still not on the Samsung model DVD-HD950 and the Toshiba SD-4960. The Sony locked up on me when going back to the main menu after selecting a chapter and going back to the main menu though. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with anything since the Blu-Ray player has done that before on some DVD's. I update the software to the latest version on the player and it happen alot less often now though. Something to do with Java enabled DVD and DVR playback fixes I have gathered so for. Anyway, the other players still aren't showing the highlights. There's obviously something you or I (or both) are missing in all this.

The fact that the Menu highlights work on at least one of your players tend to suggest a problem with the other DVD players and not the DVD.
