VS11+ TBYB - Error on installation

I want to evaluate VS before committing to buy (After being stung by purchasing a buggy InterVideo WinDVD Creator 3 that won't import sound with my video clips - so is efffectively a total waste of money)

I have downloaded and tried to install, but I get the following error message

'Error 1904.Module C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\MPEG\ulMDMgr.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147221164. Contact your support personnel.'

I have tried to manually register this file, but that fails too. I can't contact Ulead Support, as it's only TBYB.

The installation completes, and the program runs, but I am expecting to run into problems when this DLL is called.

Can anyone advise on A. a fix or B. what areas of the program will crash because of this.

I am not prepared to spend money on this if it isn't going to work.

I had the same error installing WinDVD8. I was able to relate the cause of this error to the automatic installation of the MSXML6 parser (KB927977), which was installed with dotNet3.0. Somehow this parser does not install properly through Windows Update.

After downloading and manually installing KB927977, the installation of WinDVD8 went without any problems.

Although I'm not claiming that it will solve your problem, I think it's worth a try.
