Unable to insert DVD/DVD-VR

Post by xNeeNx »

I've inserted a DVD and I've waited several minutes. However, there is no response when I click it. I've tried to insert it to both the library and timelime but neither of them work.

I know it's not intuitive at first sight, but you need to use
Capture tab, then Import from DVD/DVR
This my understanding of it.
I have been proven wrong on several occasions in my life. It's not going to improve.

Not quite sure what you mean by "I clicked it" xNeeNx - what did you click ?? - if the icon on the capture screen as suggested by daniel then also try one of these ,

Put the DVD into your computer DVD tray, In VideoStudio 'RIGHT click on the timeline (or storyboard) and choose 'Insert DVD/DVD-VR..' then follow the prompts - not forgetting to put ticks in the boxes at the final stage.

OR - - choose "File >> "Insert Media File to Timeline >> Insert DVD/DVD-VR.." and follow prompts

see if one of those work.

It might also help if you told us a bit about the DVD you are trying to insert - is it a commercial (purchased) DVD - is it one you made - is it from a camcorder ? if so does it need finalising ?? etc.

And what version of VideoStudio are you using - it does matter.

I mean I clicked Insert DVD/DVD-VR and theres no response.

The DVD i've put in is one I've purchased but I doubt its the DVD thats causing this as it worked yesterday. Just not today for some reason. Do you need to have a video device connected to your computer for it to work by any chance?

And I'm using Video Studio 8.

what do you mean by "worked yesterday"?
Did you insert it successfully or just played it?

If it's a commercial disc there are chances some protection system is preventing easy and straightforward importing.
Can you copy the VOB files to a Hard disk directory?
This my understanding of it.

Version 8 did not have the icon on the capture screen in the way daniel and myself meant in the posts above, but had a small round button in the very bottom left corner which opened a pop-up.

further to daniels question in the post above - does your PC recognise the disc at all when you put it in - do you get the standard Widows "what do you want to do " box.

You do not need any external video device connected to make it work.

Yes it does recognise it. The window pops up saying 'Open folder to view files, play dvd movie, play dvd video' etc. Is that it?

Hmm its weird. it just doesnt respond to insert dvd/dvd-vr at all. It doesn't even load.
