Multiple issues with version 11 plus

Post by Mark Spencer »

Hello all,
Hope thing are going well for you.

Thought I would try the forums for a faster responce.

Problem 2 (already have one problem submitted to Tech support, no responce yet.): Yesterday I tried the split by scene function (did it in the file area, not the time line) and now whenever I open the file the software splits it into scenes automatically. Another file (which I didn't split) opens normally. Just tried it again, this time I renamed the file and it worked fine, but still ....

Problem 3: Software crashes when editing video (freguently), This happens when I'm trying to get to the exact frame I want. I hit play, stop , back a few frames (or seconds), depending how close I am to the edit point) I don't think it's certain key presses that crash it, I think the program is accessing the file at the same time I am, or I'm too fast and it is causing an access violation. I have also had it crash when deleting the last section of a split clip, right after watching it to the end. It is so bad that now I am editing the projects in UVS 7 and then opening them in UVS11, can u say 'Pain in the ...'
Note: I have tried DV captured via Canon ZR85 and UVS7 (most of my archive is this type), Canon ZR85 and UVS11, And Pinnacle Studio DV captures, all with the same result. I can do all my editing key presses in project mode and it doesn't crash. Just when in clip mode, and it doesn't matter if the clip is being played from the timeline or Library, it will still eventually crash.

Problem 4: Problems with DV type 2. Slow to open, even slower saving a trimmed video or complete project. Over 10 minutes Rendering yielded 20 sec of video. If I save the file as Custom:DV type 1, the problem goes away. There is a long pause, the hard drive lite stays on solid then finally it starts rendering, going real slow.

Problem 5: Setting the audio to 0 (during editing), causes a pause before the clip will start playing this is annoying, it slows down my editing, However I can find no way to quickly set the volume of all clips to zero, Volume is disabled if multiple clips are selected.

Problem 6: I know this was probably designed this way but... When selecting a clip, to trim the end or stretch time, the program jumps to the beginning of the clip causing me to have to scroll back to the end (frustrating) Yes, I could zoom out but then I can't select or see the smaller clips.

Problem 7: It is near impossible to move a clip within the file library window when you have 2 rows showing, and enough clips to require scrolling. Try to move it down one row and the whole thing scrolls to far, try to move it up one row, program jumps to far, just keeps rolling back and forth.

Note: I have installed twice. Once when I first bought the software, then when I got all the crashes, I thought I would try it with a fresh Windows install, Now I have a clean completely updated version of Windows and I have updated my hardware drivers, direct x, etc., made no difference.

Problem 1(for those interested): I can't use the AV/DV converter function of my camcorder or capture live video footage. Only works capturing from tape. When I switch to capture, it will show my device but the preview window remains black, if I Click Capture anyway the source appears in the preview window for awhile then the capture errors out with a message saying that the vid is unusable and will be deleted.

Yea, I got a lot of problems
Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You,
Mark Spencer
