Transition effects make my movie shorter.

Post by designer0307 »

Hi.
I have some problems with adjusting the audio to my video after seting transitions effects.
The problem is that after i split my movie into smaller parts it has let's say 1.20 min. Then when I add some transition effects between the clips , my entire movie has 1.10min.... It goes without saying that the music (in separate track, loaded from my hard disc-not splited from movie)is no longer adjusted to what is going on the movie. You know-when the music changes rapidly i adjusted it to for example explosion and so on.After adding transitions ,however it no longer suit's because movie is shorter.

Is there any soultion to this ?

Yes there is  Add your music after you are done

How do you expect the transition to be done? The two adjacent clips overlap each other by the duration of the transition effect thereby shortening you video. Simple physics, sorry.

Hi

I find the basic editing workflow follows the menu tabs to the top of the program.

Starting with Capture to the left I work through the tabs, Keeping this in mind, things seem to go a little smoother. Yes I am tempted to jump a few places, but am aware of the pitfalls. And audio comes last.

Add your music after you are done
I knew someone would say this ;p

To be honest ,this is a solution but when I add the music later ,I am forced to cut in pieces. When you do it with the video it's fine because you can add transition effects between the clips. When it comes to music ,you cannot do the same.

I am confused a little bit.I want to adjust some explosion on the movie to the music but in the end I always end up with 2-3 seconds difference between the music and the video. It's not that annoying but still ;)
I you want to see an exmaple of this issue, have a look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JJrSJyf8yc

If you are Avalon, then I don't see what the problem might have been in that clip.

And I am sorry, but I don't see what your problem is in the suggestion which was made. You capture your video, you make your cuts, you add your transitions and do other editing, and then you work out how to fit the music to that... To me, that seems the logical workflow...

Hi

This is just an editing issue, the fact is if you change the length of the video clip then the lower timelines will drift out of sync. Unless you use Ripple Editing, this locks the selected timelines together keeping them in sync, needs a bit of practice to control its use.

You still have to work from left to right across the timeline.

For special effects, you could use a separate project.

Start a new project, insert one video clip, edit remove unwanted frames.
Add your audio clip, sync¡¦ to the video.

Now Share-Create Video File-Same As First Video Clip.

This will produce a new clip of the video and audio combined, using the first clips properties.
A thumbnail being placed in the library.

When you have completed a few, place all in a new project to complete the editing.

The video clips will have to be rendered again, not recommended for mpeg files.
But will over come the 2 sec out of sync¡¦ that you seem to be creating.

Just ideas

If you only need a few more or less seconds of audio, change the "speed of the audio.

Right click on the audio & change speed to the lenght you need.

I have found that works pretty well if you only need to adjust a few seconds. If you need to adjust it several seconds I have found it makes the sound garbled. However, using Audacity for longer audio adjustments works well.
