I've burnt hundreds of DVD's using MF4 with the latest being about 72 hours ago. I've never encountered any problems. Suddenly, it now crashes 2 minutes into the whole shabang. All it says is Ulead encountered a problem and must close.
I'm dropping avi's into it and allow it to make the necessary mpegs. Worked fine before...now what's the problem? I've updated with the patch but no go. I need 20 discs by Wednesday and it's just not gonna happen.
Thanks

There is probably someting wrong with your AVI files. (A corrupt file will often play OK, bt cause trouble when you try to edit or convert it.)I'm dropping avi's into it...
"AVI" is not a single format. It's a "wrapper" or "container" format. It can contain any format from DivX to DV. The more compressed formats seem to cause the most troiuble.

Could be simple. You might have installed a broken or bad codec with some new software that is now loaded whenever the programs start.
Look for and download the MS Windows XP Video Decoder Checkup Utility on the MS site. This will easily allow you to choose another codec for DVD playback on your system or revert your changes without needing advanced knowledge.
But your problem may not be related to MPEG or MPEG2. It could be another codec or filter. With advanced knowledge a more advanced approach: http://www.softella.com/dsfm/index.en.htm

zoobie,
Seeing that you use ProCoder I'll assume you are not a newbie.
But it is still possible you've forgotten or overlooked the temporary area used by MF whose disk might now be full. If not full, I would clean that area... like DMF_TEMP.
If a full disk is not your problem, then possibly you have now learned why I do not allow any software whatsover to automatically update itself, including the operating system. Sloppy work, mistakes, incompatibilities... I don't want anybody's untested code. Better to wait for critical problems to surface elsewhere. It's happened to folks with Windows Update... and then version#2 of the update was made.
Just an idea, because countless software phones home and gets updates without asking, unless you change the settings (and have a firewall for outgoing inspection).

Sure...I understand your position and don't blame you.
I cleaned out the temp stuff but it's still throwing an error.
I looked thru the error log and noticed the first errors said:
Invalid video horizontal size (%d) for mpeg1 & 2
Invalid video vertical size (%d) for mpeg1 & 2
Backtracking...

I just read some more and noticed this is a very common problem thru 6
"Program crashes when converting DV-AVI type-2 videos to DVD compliant ones."
hmm... I wonder if I accidently dropped a type-2 in there...
The update should have fixed it though...

Yikes...I've just found posts declaring the registry is corrupted and I'd have to go thru about 30 things just to determine this. Gonna havta dump this software and move on. My other programs stopped, too. Better use this stuff at your own risk...and be prepared to reformat your HD.
See ya around...
PS - Oddly, Ulead refunded all these customers money after acknowledging the registry bugs...thru MF6 I read.
