If the latter, what is the source of the video you are attempting to capture from and how?
It happens when I try to capture video from my VCR which is connected to the computer through Plexor Digital Converter PX-AV 100UKen Berry wrote:And exactly what are you trying to capture, from what and in what format? What devices are involved?

To save everyone else searching for a review:

Review here:
Plextor Convertx Digitial Video Recorder
I see that it includes Device driver installation I take it that you have installed that in order for it to work

The Plextor device you have gets generally good ratings. But it does not have a hardware chip built in to do the conversion of captured video to the various formats it captures in; nor does it capture to DV format. it relies instead on software conversion, and that means a driver has to be installed.
I am not sure that the driver you have would necessarily be compliant with Vista. In fact, Plextor have only just recently (30 April) released an updated device (called logically enough the PX-AV200U) which they claim to be Vista compliant.
From what I know of the product, I suspect it may have also relied on particular software which was tweaked to make it work for capturing from this device. Ironically, in all the circumstances, the Plextor ships (shipped?) with InterVideo's WinDVD Creator 2.0. But I could be wrong on that. Did you ever manage to capture using VS and the Plextor?
Or conversely, have you tried capturing in Vista using the WinDVD software?
