Free upgrade to 9?

I was just about to purchase version 8, when I noticed version 9 is due out very soon. I'm guessing this is a no, but if I buy 8 now will 9 be free?

No you wont get VS 9 for free.

But download the trial version of 8 to give it a try.
then trial version 9 befor buying.

Arh! Thats a real shame. Most companies offer free upgrades if you purchase old versions so close to new versions being released. I also think they should make this clear on the VideoStudio page, otherwise people will be buying 8 then having to pay again for 9 in a few weeks. I wonder when in April v9 is out?

I bought Movie Factory 3 from a local retailer just a week before Movie Factory 4 was announced and released. I called Ulead customer service with your exact question and was told to email a copy of my sales receipt and they would provide me with download links for MF4 at no charge.

In my case MF4 had not been announced or released before I purchased it. Your case may be a little different since VS9 has been announced, but not released.

Like a previous poster said, contact customer service and see what they have to say. It is not unusual for a software company to provide no charge upgrades to a new version that is announced and/or released within 30 days of a customer purchasing the old version.

Also, you might have better success if you purchase VS8 directly from Ulead. But be sure to ask Ulead first.

Tried calling support, but no answer for over half-an-hour. However, on the plus side, just got the 8 upgrade for £8.99 from ulead.co.uk! Even if I have to pay again, it won't be too much more. Will the plugins (Dolby, MPEG-4 etc) and DVD template packs work with 9 or maybe even included though?
