Hi there,
I have a problem with the Audio on VideoStudio 8.
I have the full version of VideoStudio 8 (not SE) and have been using it for 2 years with no previous problems.
I've installed all the patches I can find on the Ulead website and "About" shows the version as 8.01.0000
The problem is this.
When editing a project, I want to use the Audio Mixing Panel to adjust the volume of the project in realtime, however there is no audio to hear.
The green/amber/red panels move to show audio levels but I can't hear anything.
Change to "clip" mode and audio can be heard fine, but the Audio Mixing Panel requires you to be in "project" mode, at which point....silence....
Have checked all the volume/audio controls on the PC itself.
This feature has worked in the past but wont now!
I notice that when I choose "project" mode the Duration and Clip Volume at the top of the options panel clear themselves, can't remember if this is right or not from previous use..
I can theoretically edit each clip in turn using the "rubber band" method but it will take days to do that, just can't work out what there is no audio in project mode, but there is in clip mode....
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Michael

Thanks for the detail of what you did. But I am afraid you have totally left out the all important information about what you were doing it to!
What format is the video you are working on, and more importantly, where did it come from?
If, for instance, it came from a commercial DVD or from a hard disk or mini DVD video camera, it will use Dolby audio, and VS8 cannot handle Dolby (except for a relatively expensive plug-in which is no longer available).
I would also check out your sound card. Do other programs play audio OK?

Sorry about that.
The video was captured from my Samsung DV cam in DV (.AVI) format.
This is the same camera/format I've always used with VS8 in the past with no issues.
Have checked all other audio programs (Media Player, Quicktime, Windows Movie Maker, WinAmp etc etc) and all play audio fine.
Thanks
Michael

Hi Michael
Although I have progressed to VS 10 I still have VS 8 installed.
I find that I also have a similar audio problem.
I assume that the volume is ok in normal video editing mode.
VS 8 was so bad that I created a Fix folder to hold the many updates/fixes.
Searching my old VS 8 files I found a file called uvPlay.dll
I must admit that I cannot remember any reference to this file, nor remember using it.
But replacing this file seems to have cured the silent movie syndrome.
The file is located here C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 8.0
If you e-mail me I will send the file, if it works then that will be good.
