Fatal Error during Install

Post by Cryption »

New to the forum. I ordered MF6 full download version. I'm unable to complete the install due to a fatal error in the install process. I've read through all the posts here and it seems I'm not alone. I've tried the suggestion, but still have not had any success.
Has anyone found the solution to this problem? I've sent several emails to Corel, but no response yet.
The biggest problem is I can't uninstall the product due to the fatal error. I have no icons on my desktop and I have no entry in add/remove programs. If I run the Install .exe again to attempt to repair, it tells me I already have it installed and need to remove it before I can continue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Hi,

I was just out the dilemma where you cannot install or remove either. Using convenient add/remove function is always baffled by error warning. My problem was ¡§could not find *.msi¡¨ something.

Having sought on internet, finally I download ¡§Windows Install Clean Up¡¨ (you can use this as key word to arrive the website), and it works straightway.

Good luck!

Thanks for responding. Did this fix your install problem and allow you to install MF6 or just help you remove it?
If not, were you able to resolve the install issue?

YES. I CAN...

Yes. I had difficulty in getting rid of DMF6 TBYB version in my computer, as *.msi something lost etc. Finally, with the aid of ¡§Windows Install Cleanup¡¨, I succeeded in completely removing it.

Just now, I try to re-install of DMF6 TBYB, it goes smoothly.

In Knowledge base of this website, you can find the instruction how to clean machine to have a good environment for Ulead installation, see below.

I found this list is not exhaustive. At least, in my machine, I found two places where still the MovieFactory hidden, one is in the StartMenu folder, another in ShareFile folder. You can use the ¡§Search¡¨ function of Windows to reveal all of them.(START>SEARCH...)

Although, I could install DMF6 TBYB, my problem is DMF4. I have put my question below for three days, but it seems none could help.

I done a clean install and now ran the windows installer. When I try to reinstall it still says there is a copy of MF6 on my PC and I need to uninstall it before I can continue.

Man this ia a PITA

Just wanted to let everyone know that I fixed my problem. After installing it on another PC succesfully, I noticed it had WinDVD installed. So I went back to the original problem PC and installed WinDVD and re-installed MF6 without the Fatal Error.
Corel, who bought Ulead, is completely useless in helping me.
