Can't Install Certain "Components For Download Versions

I went to the webpage - http://www.ulead.com/pi/esd.htm - to download additional free components to round out the libraries of my trial version of PI12.

The page states the following:

The remaining program content of the download version of Photoimpact 12 (Full or Upgrade version) and the trial download can be downloaded below.

I downloaded the file listed as:

PhotoImpact 12 Contents_(upi12_contents_(e).exe) ... 225 MB

When I execute the installer, it decompresses itself, displays the neat little Ulead Photoimpact 12 splash screen, then promptly displays the following in a pop up window:

Cannot find Ulead Photoimpact 12 on your system or the installed version is not supported. Please make sure that you have installed a supported Ulead Photoimpact 12 version first.

WTF??!! This is really pissing me off. It states clearly at the top of the page that it is applicable to the TRIAL VERSION of PI12.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please keep in mind when responding: According to the download page, this is supposed to work with the trial version of PI12. The page clearly states that you can, and I did it on someone elses computer a few weeks ago to boot, so there is definitely an "issue" here.

I have never used it with a trial version but the site seems to imply that you can use these with the TBYB version. When I downloaded the trial in the early days the components did not work with PI 12 TBYB.

What is your OS? Vista by any chance?

You could also have a faulty installation but that can't be fixed with a TBYB. It might tell you that your trial period has expired when you try to install it again.

Where, exactly, did you install the trial? In the default directory or somewhere else on your system?

My OS is Windows XP.

I installed it into the path C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead PhotoImpact 12

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling PI12, but nothing changes. The components installer still won't recognize my PI12 installation.

That would indicate that, in spite of claiming the oposite, the components still do not work with the trial versions. Not sure what to do now. Hopefully one of the admins with connections to the top will clarify the situation.

Do you have an older version of PI on your machine? You could export the EP contents and import these into the trial version. I did that when I trialled PI 12. I used my extras from PI 11.

It appears to be a badly worded web page.

As mentioned by Luthmount 45 near the top of the page it states:
The remaining program content of the download version of PhotoImpact 12 (Full or Upgrade version) and the trial download can be downloaded below.

However.......

Further down the page it states:
PhotoImpact Content for Download
Owners of the PhotoImpact 12 full and upgrade download versions can download the following files. If you do not have PhotoImpact 12 installed, you will NOT be able to use these components.

What appears to be missing is a link to download the trial version of PhotoImpact. You do not appear to be able to install the extra content into the trial version.

Interestingly the page includes a link to download GIF Animator 5 which was subject of a discussion in another thread.
