Changing the audio volume of the video track
Hello. On the last project I did, I altered the audio volume of the video track to move it up to maximum using the rubber band method in the audio view. However, I had to do this for each individual clip (where I wanted the conversation to be heard) for the project which was rather time consuming. Is there a way to increase the audio on the video track to maximum in one go for the whole project rather than having to do each clip individually?
You could try a couple of things -- but it's more work.
1) save your project as a *.VSP project file. Then start a new project, add the *.VSP project as your video assset, and adjust the volume (but check that the video quality is still good -- there was a report from someone that this lowered the video quality a little bit).
2) You could create a sound file (audio track separately). Then adjust the entire audio track in a separate step...
Regards,
George

If you are indeed moving the volume to maximum, a slightly less tedious way than using the rubber bands -- but still requiring to be done clip by clip -- is simply to set the volume level up near the mute button to a selected number higher than the default 100. (I can't quite recall what the maximum number is that it can be set to but it is either 500 or 600).

Thanks Ken. Just in case you were wondering why I'm doing this: On my previous projects, I left both the audio volume on the video track and on the music track at the default level. When the burned DVD was played the music seemed much louder than the audio track so I was using the remote to turn up the volume when someone was saying something and down again when the background music came on. Since then, I've put the audio volume on the video track to maximum and left the music track at default and it seems to have got rid of the aforementioned problem.
I have seen that there is a check box in the 'burn disc module' that gives the option of normalising the audio but I've never tried it. Maybe that would be an easier solution.
