How to see which clips are placed on the storyboard

Post by DylanL »

Hi,

I have been a long time Pinnacle user, but i got fed up with it due to its everlasting instability and bugs. I'm quite happy with VS because it works much better.

However, there's one functionality that pinnacle offered, which i cant find in VS 11. It used to mark all clips in the library that are placed on the storyboard with a green "check". In that way it's very easy to tell which of your imported clips have been used and which ones haven't. This is very usefull with, for instance, working on a vacation video that existst out of more than 100 clips.

I'm sure there must be an alternative way in VS to keep track of the clips used, but i simply cant find it. I hope somebody can explain me how to deal with this problem.

Sorry for this noob question. Thanks in advance.

Nope. VS does not do this. It was a highly requested option for VS11, but Ulead chose to ignore that request (and many others). An option you might try is renaming the clip after you've used it. Time consuming, I know, but if you need that function that's about your only option.

Thanks for your quick reply Jeff.
That's too bad, really.
With renaming, you mean actually renaming the file outside of VS? Because i dont see a rename option on the clip properties.

Jeff *may* not have meant "rename the clip" - it is possible he meant "rename the thumbnail" which you can do within VideoStudio - first click on the thumbnail in the library to highlight it - then click on the text underneath - which will then go into 'edit' mode and allow you to change the thumbnail title - or just put an 'X' or something in front of the existing title. This does NOT change the name of the actual video file on your hard drive.
