AVCHD / VS11 /FIELD infos...

Post by mircea_crutescu »

Despite some information found on this forum, after importing some AVCHD rushes from my Panasonic hdc-sd1, putting it on the timeline, no field information is shown when asking for properties...
Can't attach the screen capture, but what i see:

File name
File Format
File size
Duration

Video type
total frames
attributes
frame rate
data rate

audio type
total samples
attributes
layer
bit rate

Building a project with these imported rushes creates an unusable output... see other posts...

If others could help I would think they would have responded. That is the usually the case on this forum.

Maybe they have given up and have nothing to add that could help.

Personally if I do get a avchd cam I would eventually get a hardware card similar to these. I've only used or borrowed these avchd cams, my hd-cam records to hd-mpeg2 which is not a problem with VS when working in the Program Stream Format. Something that many did not consider is the avchd cams record in a non-editable format. The links below could eventually be a better solution (in my opinion) by capturing the analog/digital signal directly from the hdmi port on the cam.

Probably not these exact cards, raw uncompressed video requires large amount of disk space. But more of these products should be available soon to convert the video directly from the hdmi port or component signal(s) into an editable codec or hd-mpeg2 HDV compatible file.
This would make avchd conversions for editing much easier compared to a software solution to transcode the video(s) into an editable format.
