I have a problem with Videostudio 11.
Say I have an AVI file that I want to cut a few scene's out of and nothing else, and I choose "same as first video clip" under sharing I usually get an "unable to access audio codec" fault message. Only has this problem with AVI files that uses MPEG layer 3 audio codec.
I know this is a known problem and I have tried to do as they suggest in the Knowledge Database at Ulead's HP, but when I run AVIcodec as they suggest it just say that the audio codec is supported. I've also tried to download various codec's (of the right type) but still the same. So does anybody have a codec they know that works, or perhaps if there's a specifik way to install those audio codec's into VS11??

Unfortunately, LameMP3 is an audio codec with which VS has problems.
I am not sure what to suggest. Usually the problem is the other way round i.e. people trying to use LameMP3 audio in a project, rather than, as you are, trying to decode existing video which uses that codec.
All I can think of for the moment would be to try to convert the video/audio into some other format (e.g. mpeg-2) using another program, such as Nero which I know uses the LameMP3 codec. Or you might Google for a free conversion program called SUPER.

First, I wouldn't try to install any other codec to make VS use the codec. This can result in VS failing to load (hanging).
What you should try is trim the video to about 2 minutes or so.
Goto Share -> Create Video File -> Customize -> Select AVI | OPTIONS
Then manually set the parameters in the dropdown boxes and all, see if Xvid is even listed or not, if it is you can assign standard mp3, mpeg audio layer 3 as your choice, or pcm wav just to test an export.
The method your using "Same As First Video Clip" is only reliable for mpeg1/mpeg2/dv/hdv(hd-mpeg2)
Reason being Xvid and lame are freeware with many different distributions and versions. These programs can usually crash video/audio editing applications.
The proper method to edit/convert them is using the customized feature as posted above.

First of all thanks for the replies. It's much appreciated
Etech6355 - After your first post where you suggest it might be a problem with the video codec I basicly did what you suggested in your second reply. I found that the problem was the video codec indeed. When ever I try to encode in Xvid (which is supported) it stuff's up the AVI file. When i choose any other video encoder it works fine.
So problem solved.
