Is this a different manifestation of the OOS problem?

Post by jaschrumpf »

I've done my video capture from Hi-8 videotape with a Plextor PX-M401U on a P4 2.8Ghz Win XP Pro with 1G RAM. I capture to MPEG-2 video and audio.

My problem seems to be a bit different from what I've read in this forum. When I drop a clip into VE8, and view it in the previewer, it is in synch if I'm looking at the "clip" but OOS (audio early) if I'm looking at the "project". I don't even have to get to the burning part of the process before I see a problem.

I'm using the trial version for which I bought a registration key. I have applied no update patches at all. From what I've read here, I'm not sure if I should. Is it worth a try?

Thanks!

It sounds like a different problem.

Have you tried opening the file using Windows Media Player to see if the A/V sync problem is apparent in it?

Yes. Windows Media Player, and any other viewer, shows the clip with normal synch. In fact, since the VS8 even shows the "Clip" with the correct synch while "Project" has the OOS problem, it makes me wonder what process is being performed on the "Project" viewing that's not being done on the "Clip" viewing.

Hi
The OOS problem I have been experiencing only shows after using the burner module to create the Vob files in a TS folder, on a system with the patch installed.
I can only assume there is a problem with the burner software.

If you are having audio problems in the edit stage then it’s a different fault.

Viewing the preview screen does not produce the best results.
Vs has to put all the edits together in real time for you to view, this is demanding on your pc.
most times you can see slow or jumpy video, bad audio etc.
(although your pc spec’ looks ok, I would expect you to see good playback)

You can view the project in either ‘instant playback’ default
Or ‘high quality playback’ from preferences (F6)
This renders the project, creating temp files in the preview folder.
Allocate a suitable folder (F6 preview)
It may take a while but playback should be good.

If the ‘high quality playback’ cures your problem then I would suspect your pc.
Have you applied the recommended system tweaks?
Page Filing etc

Press F1 for the help section search for ‘system tweaks’

Hope this Helps

Thanks, I'll check those out.

Try switching to High Quality Preview instead of Instant Preview. You may be running into a situation where UVS can't create the Preview in realtime and is lagging behind, creating an apparent OOS situation.
