Does .JPG files not work?

Hi,

Silly question but hopefully a quick fix. Just downloaded the trial and cant get any of my photos to open. Thy are all JPG but it sems I cant get any files to open.

any ideas

Welcome to the forums,

First help us out a little, by providing more information to work with. If this were a mechanical question concerning a car, I would at least need to know what the make, model and year of the car is.

Since you downloaded "the trial", I think it is safe to make the assumption that it is the trial version of of PI-12. If not please specify what program you downloaded.

How are you trying to open the JPEG files? Can you open the JPEGs with other software or Windows Explorerer? What Operating System are you using, Win 98se, WinXP, or Vista?

It might seem picky to be asking for this information, but I'm not setting at your computer to see everything, so you need to paint us a detailed picture.

To answer your question I can say categorically: opening jpeg images is one of the main purposes of this program. If you can't open such images something is seriously wrong. What that may be is anybodies guess because we are not informed on anything you are using.

I was able to do everything in PI12 using windows vista for weeks. Just recently something happened and now everytime I try to open a JPG file in PI12 it says error cant open "filename.jpg". I looked under preferences for save options and JPG and GIF arent even visible.

Does anyone know of this problem as it is very annoying considering that JPGs are pretty important to open. I have tried reinstalling.

I assume you have patched your PI for use with Vista?

Can you open other jpeg images or none at all?

Patched twice. Reinstalled twice. Deleted temp files. Deleted registry.

PI doesnt even see JPG or GIF under the preferences - Open & Save section. No problems with PI until about 1 week ago and I have no idea when it happened.

Have second PC with PI12 and vista with no problems. I have had PI since version 4 and never had this issue.

You never had Vista before either . Welcome to the WOW experience

The only reason for your troubles I can see are system related. Something broke with Vista and it's support of PI.

I'm out of my league here because I do not use Vista an will not use it unless I'm forced to. That, I hope, will not be any time soon.

You are prob right. I run a tech support and consulting business and have to have all operating systems in use. Until 1 week ago PI12 and Vista were ok, and still is ok on second PC. 3rd PC has XP and all is well.

Anyone else have this issue let me know. Thanks for your help.
