I am working with VideoStudio 7.0. When I capture a video from DVD it does not capture the sound. Under options the checkbox to capture sound is greyed out and I cannot turn it on. I might need an update patch but when I downloaded the VideoStudio 7.0 file which is supposed to have all of the documents and patches it only has the pdf file.
Does anyone have the patch or is there another solution that I am overlooking?

Simple answer. The DVD you are trying to capture from almost undoubtedly uses Dolby audio. VS7 is simply not able to handle Dolby, and there is nothing you can do about that. The first plug-in for Dolby only appeared with VS8 if I recall correctly. And since VS9, Dolby is part of the standard tools of Video Studio.
So you need either to consider upgrading, or you can search for a free AC-3 filter (e.g. on videohelp.com) which, if you can get it working, should allow you at least to be able to import the Dolby audio. But you cannot then export anything using Dolby. In other words, you have to convert the imported audio to either standard LPCM or mpeg layer 2 audio in any of your projects using the original video from the DVD.
