Video Paint timecode problem
Video Paint timecode problem
I am having a problem with the Video Paint part of MediaStudio Pro 7. I import a video file to Video Editor, then go through it and write down the mark-in and mark-out timecode points for the clips I want to paint. Then I go the Video Paint, but when I try to open the clips with those points, the scenes are not the same. Thus I find it nearly impossible to put the painted clips back in the right places. Precise timecode is imperative, because I have the audio attached to the original video and I don't want to throw the dialogue out of sync. The only solution I can find is to save each clip as an mpg file as I paint it, then the positioning is not so critical because they will have the audio. However, this means that the clips will be compressed twice, which I don't really want because of the potential quality loss. Am I doing something wrong? By the way, all my video files are in mpg format.

Can anybody help me with this? Thanks.
I'm only guessing, because on the very rare occasions that I use VP I output a short AVI specifically for manipulation.
Are you sure you're using the right mark in/mark out points? VP will use the timecode of the original AVI (or whatever) as its reference points, not its position and length in the project.
For example, if you have a three-second clip starting at 0:00:05;00 on the timeline, and it uses the middle of a 30 second AVI, the mark in/out you'd use in VP is 0:00:12;13 to 0:00:17;12, not 0:00:05;00 to 0:00:09;24
(PAL timecodes)
