Sending video files to DVD moviefactory

Post by ConnieR. »

I have Media Studio Pro 7, and I really like it. However, when I send video files to DVD MovieFactory, which came with the MSP7, I can't get two hours of video on one DVD. I am trying to put some old TV shows that were taped off the TV onto DVD, after I cut out the commercials and try to get rid of some of the flaws. I usually use a SONIC program to capture the video from VHS, and then I open it in MSP7. I save the files as MPEG-2. I should at least be able to get two hour long shows on one disc, because they are only about 50 minutes when the commercials are out. Is there any other program I can get that would maybe compress the files more to fit on a 4.7gb disc?

Of course you can get 2 hours on one disc. When creating your MPEG-2 file use 4000 kbit/s Constant bitrate for the video for a start and see how you get on. I can't remember whether you have the option for AC-3 (Dolby) for audio (I think you do except on the cut-down versions). If so, choose that at 192 kbit/s.

You can then play around with your settings to aim for between 4.0 and 4.1 Gb for an SD DVD (4.7 Gb).
