VS 11+ error: cannot start capture guide

I upgraded from 10 and I uninstalled 9 and 10 after the update. I tried to capture using my fireware to my sony (no previous problems). The video appears in the preview window and the video information appears under it so I know it can read the camera but when I click capture video I get: cannot start capture guide.

Any ideas?

Have you tried reinstalling v11? Sometimes an uninstall of a previous version will remove shared files.

I have not tried that. Since I uninstalled 9 and 10 and I have an upgrade will it say that a previous version not found? I have been upgrading since version 8.

It should just ask for the serial number of the previous version. As long as you enter that you should be ok.
