Hello together,
just in case anyone else gets the same problem: I tried to "create disc" - the project is loaded and then all of a sudden - ulead video studio version 11 terminates without any error message.
My solution for that was to delete all chapter points and create them again - as I understand by looking at this forum - there is a recommended way of creating menus and chapters which I should have known before.
But just in case a ULead Developer gets this message: how come, that the program just terminates without any error message ? I am a little bit disappointed (I am on a 30-day-trial).
Does anybody know, if there is a error log file ?
I will now try to recreate the chapter points again after create disc.
What I additionally did: I reproduced the underlaying MPG file with a new version of it (by relink-ing). Additionally in that underlaying MPG file I had additional chapter points added, which I now understand perhaps are being taken over invisibly (?) and may have confused the program a little bit.
I don't really need any help at this issue (I just wanted to save someelse from haveing a headache at this) - and any ideas are welcome of course.
Kind regards,
Gabriel

While you can, of course, edit your project (including inserting chapter points), and then jump straight to the burning phase (Share > Create Disc), thus inserting your project into the burning timeline with any version of VS, all too often, people appear to have problems. Ulead says the way you do it is the correct one, yet so many people have problems.
You might instead want to edit your project, including inserting chapter points, but then select Share > Create Video File > DVD, to produce a DVD compliant mpeg-2 of your project, including the chapter points. Once this is produced, Save your project, then File > New Project, which will give you an empty timeline in the Editor. Don't bother giving the new project a name, but leave the timeline empty.
Then select Share > Create Disc, and insert your new mpeg-2 in the burning timeline. You should find that the chapter points are also recognised. Make sure that the box beside 'do not convert compliant mpeg files' is ticked in the Options cogwheel icon in the bottom left of the burning screen. Test your menus, then burn.

reason for termination without error message
Hi all,
I just found out another reason, why create disc may terminate after loading the project (and even in the relink / smart search window popup): TOO LONG FILENAMES - my filenames for the MPG files went longer and longer with every stage of processing.
Once I limited it to the original length - wow, the program didn't terminate anymore.
God save the queen.
Kind regards,
Gabriel
