Reactivation of WINDVD 8

Post by ken@dunella.com »

OK I give in
Having upgraded to Vista from XP I have reinstalled my WinDVD8, but I cannot find anyway to "reactivate" as the original activation code has expired and there is no option in the members area to regenerate it. (other than reissue the origional defunct one).

BTW all support calls to Intervideo have met with absolutely no response whatsoever - if I hadn't already paid my money I wouldn't go near them with a bargepole, but since I have paid I want what I paid for.

Anyone any ideas?

- thanks!

Reactivation Code for WinDVD

Post by HortonM »

I, too, am trying to get a new activation code for WinDVD8. Try using Intervideo's "form" to fill out for customer service at their website. You, at least, get a reply that they received your message. Using their e-mail (support@intervideo.com) gets you absolutely nothing.

To get the activation key, you would have purchased windvd online, then log in to Intervideo members area, go to your order history and at the bottom you will find the item purchsed. Its easy from there.

You can use your original activation key by simply doing the following :
Reset your computer clock to the date that you received your email with the original activation code ( or within 10 days following that email ) Restart the computer. Activate the Intervideo software. Now change the date to the whatever day is current.
I have done this many times with all of the Intervideo programs I own with no problems.

also. If you do log on to the intervideo site and get to the record of your purchase, notice that the very long activation key is slightly different to the original with just a few numbers and letters in the middle somewhere.

Unable to re-activate on Vista

Post by Bao Pu »

Hello,

I too am unable to re-activate my WinDVD Gold software after upgrading to Vista. I am the only user of this computer, and so have administrator priviledges. But that is no help. I have signed in to my account, got a new (?) activation key by clicking on SERIAL NUMBER. I have entered all of this information when promted to (re)register the software. I got a message that activation was successful and I was promted to re-launch the application. I did so but got "Your trial license period has expired" and I was promted to register again. I did this a few times but I still couldn't access the program. Last time I tried to start it I clicked "don't show me this message again" to the promt to register, however, now when I double-click the icon nothing at all happens.

I used a Support Request Form and got one reply:

If you are unable to activate your InterVideo software even with the correct activation codes, please make sure that you run it with administrator privileges:

1. Right click on your program shortcut from the Desktop or Start menu.
2. Select "Run as" and select "Administrator" as the user to run this program.
3. Apply the changes and exit.

Activation information:

To be able to activate the software, you need to enter all the required information correctly.
*The email address you enter should be the one you used to purchase it.
*Please take note that the password is case sensitive.
*The license key expires when you have used it or after 10 days so you have to retrieve a new one from your InterVideo account when you are to reuse it.
*Make sure you enter the last 4 digits for the card you used to purchase the software with.

If one of the required information is not entered correctly or if you used the activation information on a different software version then it will fail in the activation process. To retrieve your activation information, login to your InterVideo member account here: http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/Signin.jsp

None of this was helpful. I submitted a reply, giving some more details (on Friday), but have not heard back. I am wondering if there is a newer version of the software available for download. Has anybody been able to activate WinDVD on Vista? If so, what is the file version? Can anyone help?

I don't have Vista but I read about a lot about it because I am eventually going to have it. That said, I read this on another website in regards to getting programs to run on Vista .
If User Account Control is active, you¡¦ll need to allow the program to run at the elevated level. Do whatever you have to do to tell User Account Control to allow the program to run. Disable User Account Control if you absolutely have to (but only do so as a last resort) .
