Hi
I can't seem to burn a dvd - I am using DVD Moviefactory 3.5 suite.
How long should it take to burn a dvd? Its been going for like 15-20 mins and is only at 1%. At this rate it will be all day longggggggg. The DVD isnt even full, I am using an HP Movie Writer dc4000 writing at 8x.
WHATS WRONG????????
any input would be helpful
Thank you :)

What's the source materials you use? And your system spec?

I just burned a 3GB DVD from DivX video in 1 hour and half.

Try to see if the following works.

1. Click on the Gear button on the bottom left corner in DVD MovieFactory (or hold the Alt key and press J).
2. Click on the Change MPEG Settings button and select Customize, then adjust the project settings to precisely match the properties of your source materials.
3. Click on OK to return to the Project Settings dialog.
4. Check Do not convert complaint MPEG files.
5. Uncheck MPEG audio as non DVD-complaint if you see the option available.
6. Uncheck Support X-disc if you see the option available.
7. Uncheck Two-Pass Convertor if you see the option available.
8. Click on the OK button to close the Project Settings dialog.

Then the Ulead Smart Render technology will be activated and DVD MovieFactory will not re-encode your source materials, unless for:

1. Any media clips that are been edited.
2. Any media clips that do not match the project settings.
3. Your source materials are slide-show pictures.

Ulead Smart Render technology can be activated in all Ulead video/DVD products with similar steps and can speed up the encoding process.

Hope this helps.

Yes, you can. In the ADD/EDIT MEDIA step in DVD MovieFactory, click on the media clip you wish to view the properties and then click on the Show Media Clip Properties button on the left of the Media Clip List.

After that you can use the steps in my last post to activate Ulead Smart Render.

Hope this helps.

Maybe I'm trying to burn non-complient video types I don't know but I looked at the properties and its actually a MPEG-1 file and it won't let me change anything in the Ulead Smart Render

I'm about ready to give up !

I burn the 3GB DVD from DivX video in 1 hour and half because I did not add any effects and transitions into it.

Did you edit the video in DVDMF, like adding effects and transitions? If so, then it will render the video longer. As to how long will it render, it depends on how many effects and transitions you added.

Hope this helps.

I've about given up - I downloaded a trial of DVDLab and it seems to be doing what I want it to do - at this point and time anyways. It is a bit more complicated - not as user friendly but if it does what I want it to I will be happy.
Thanks soooooooooooooo much for all your help :D

Hi Guys,

Please check out the same discussion going on in another thread: "MF4 will not burn DVD". I suggest that if we can all congregate in the same forum we have a better chance of getting this fixed!

As you will see in my posting, MF3/trial worked fine for me but the instant I paid $100 bucks for MF4 (two days ago) the damn thing worked once and thereafter gets stuck in a (bogus) "No disc or disc error" message - now it doesn't even work as a door stop.

In this forum I read mixed reviews about Ulead's technical support; evidently ok by phone and woeful via email. Monday after Easter I'll be on the phone and either this (fatal) problem gets fixed in a couple of days or I shut off my credit card charge.

Any comments?
