MF6 can't add VOB files?

Post by yweel »

I have some movies in VOB format. In MF6, I tried to add those VOB files from the "ADD" button, but it seem no supported for "VOB" media files. So I need to rename those VOB "extention" to MPG "extention" 1st before proceed in MF6. Is there anyway can add the "VOB" direct from "ADD" button? Thanks..

Instead of the "ADD" button, use the Import from DVD-VIDEO button (the Disc Icon with the Plus sign). NOTE: this assumes you are importing the VOB from a valid DVD Folder that is not copyprotected.

This allows you to Import an entire Title, or specific Chapters within a Title (put a checkmark in the "tree" structure for the section you want to import).

But I only copy down the VOB files I needed from certain DVD then combine them in to one DVD using MF6. Can it be supported to direct "add" VOB files like previous version? Thanks

I'm also curious why they removed this option that was in MF5 and not in MF6.
There is also another option that was in MF5 and not in MF6 which is when inserting TS (transport stream) formatted video files MF5 will convert them to PS (program stream) format (a nice feature).

Same with VS11+ versus VS10+.
In VS10+ you could insert a VOB file and VS10+ would extract the mpeg2 file from the VOB container (this is the correct method versus renaming a vob to mpg). VS11+ does not have this feature.
VS10+ would also convert a TS file to PS format. I guess they would do this differently in VS11+ because you can insert TS format directly into the timeline. The problem with this is VS11+ isn't reading the TS file correctly on my computer and not displaying the fielding information. This will cause all my videos to be rendered de-interlaced or frame_based appearance.

I'm not sure why this feature isn't in MF6 and was in MF5. I sure hope they put these features back into the program.

I don't know either

I did see a response posted in the VS forum that there was some concern that not all VOB files were actual video titles (as some are the menus). So maybe they wanted to eliminate the confusion by forcing users to use the Import from DVD feature instead :?:

But these are advanced features anyway, ulead is known for it's advanced features, that's exactly why I use these programs. To navigate or access VOB files you have to know what your doing anyway. Normally these files are only in the sub-directories of the dvd's, usually not on a persons harddisk anyway unless they are an advanced user.

Any feature that exists in a previous version should be carried over into the new version, especially this one, and a few others.
Maybe they are on VOB pills.

I would agree, but it's not the first time they have removed some features from a "prior" version. Two features I miss are the ability to include a Runtime DVD Player (found in MF3DC), and also the ability to "hide" chapters in VS9 (gone in VS10 -- it's not the function to hide object on a menu -- it skipped the chapter during normal playback of the video title).

They must get feedback from someone/somewhere to remove certain features for one reason or another...
