Cut original sound and replace with music

Post by WelshChrisie »

Hi, I have put together a mix of AVIs and Photos in Videostudio 10.

The problem is that the AVI sound was distorted and I want to play music from my own collection of MP3s over the project, the original sound still comes through, even though I have in Audio disabled the video sound.

There is nothing in the instruction book to cover this, can anyone help?

many thanks

Normally, the mute button should be sufficient. You could also try changing the volume from the default 100 to 0.

When can you hear the original audio? Playing back in Clip mode, or in Project mode?

And how exactly did you go about 'disabling' the original audio?

Hi Ken,

First I put it all in through the wiz, then in the studio I go into audio and click on the speaker icon, up comes an icon on top that says video track and by the side enable and disable, so I disable.

When I go back into Edit and play, I get some photos with my music and as I go into the first AVI, I get a 5 second blast of the orriginal sound, it then carries on fine all the way through, which is less that 10 mins.

I know I am doing something wrong, what I really need to know is how to stop the AVI sound getting through.

Any Ideas??

many thanks,
Chrisie

In the timeline, click on the problem AVI to highlight it, and see if the Mute button is switched on or off; or whether the volume figure is shown as being 100. If the Mute button is off, as I suspect it will be, then switch it to on.

The Mute button only works on individual clips, so you have to set it manually for each clip. Still images will of course need no muting as they do not have audio files as part of them,
