Auto Video Level Correction?

Perhaps that is true. However, you have not yet given a possible reason why this can occur. For example, is it my video card driver's gamma settings? If so, how is that relevant and why would it cause this problem? Since you are pretty certain this is a computer issue then what things could contribute to this problem?

Dark video
I thought I'd add my $.02 to this discussion, since I'm having the exact same issue on one computer, but not the other.
Note that I've copied the VSP file and all associated files from one system to another.
I capture DV video on one system and eventually create an MPEG file using the recommended procedure.
On both systems, the MPEG file looks fine using Media Player to review it.
Usng the same VSP file (as well as creating new projects, just for fun), the preview (on the Share window) and final DVDs look distinctly different on the 2 systems. One system is fine, the other is quite dark.
I've tried creating a new project and dragging the MPEG file onto it on both systems, same thing. One looks great, the other sux.
The only thing I've been able to do is apply a brightness/contrast filter on the 'dark' system, but it still looks quite flat.
The only thing I can think of is different video hardware on the 2 systems, but I really don't know what to check. The 'dark' system has an invidia geforce card, the other is a notebook with a Mobility Radeon driver.
Any suggestions are welcome!!

It may not be the driver version itself that is responsible for the change, but the reinstallation. In other words, reinstalling the driver you had might have achieved the same results.
The NVIDIA drivers have defaults that they apply to things like clock speeds, Digital Vibrance, AA, AF, as well as the adjustments of the Video Overlay, when you install them. This probaly reset whatever adjustments had previously been made.
Anyway, I'm glad you got it fixed.
