Hi friends,
Quick question: I have imported from a camcorder 1 a clip directly from a DV tape, and I want to copy it on another DV tape.
I tried to first generate an AVI file from the captured clip using the "DV code type 1" (I also tried different other options) in order to export it on the target DV tape.
But each time I try to record the file on the camcorder (using the VS10+ export feature), I get the following error message (translated from French):
"the time format of the camcorder and of the clip are different: one is NTSC the other one is PAL".
How shoud I proceed to just export a capture clip ?

Hi, Pal (25Frames/sec) is the European video standard, NTSC (29.97Fps) is the North American/ Pacific countries standard. So you will have to convert one to the other standard.
(a) Right click on the imported video clip > Properties> Frame rate if it's 29.97 its NTSC or 25Fps it's Pal.
Now you need to Render the video to the other standard.
(b) In Capture or Edit Tab import video clip to 'timeline' then 'Share Tab'> Create Video file at the bottom of List 'Custom' clk Options > Compression Tab> select Media Type(NTSC/ Pal)> General Tab > set Frame Rate / Type & Size> OK then> Name file and 'Save' once the file is Rendered in it's new format you should be able to Output it to the other camcorder.

Thanks Roy wood, but before converting it, I would like to understand: I am in Europe, the original video clip is in PAL standard as shown:

The camcorder I want to copy the clip to is a Sony HDR-HC1E (european as well) so it should ask for a PAL standard too : why does it ask for a NTSC standard ?
the Sony HDR-HC1E does require NTSC from VS10+ because I have tried with my old camcorder (a JVC DVP-7) which accepts to record the clip (PAL) without pb ... could this be due to the HDV feature of the HC1E ? (maybe is there a way to ask the HC1E to accept PAL file when they are in DV resolution ?)
Tks
P.S.: in addition, you say :

but this option is not available in the ".AVI" format, the only way I see is to generate a MPEG2 format with the "NTSC DVD" option from the compression tab (but then it will not be recordable to a DV tape ?).(b) In Capture or Edit Tab import video clip to 'timeline' then 'Share Tab'> Create Video file at the bottom of List 'Custom' clk Options > Compression Tab> select Media Type(NTSC/ Pal)>

Well, I have maybe found the beginning of a solution: there is a recommandation in the HC1E manual (page 76 of the French version) saying:
"when copying a film in the DV format from the compouter to the camcorder, the [VCR HDV/TV] option of the (REGL. NORM) menu should be set on [DV]"
This should explain the pb.
But the pb is that this option does not exist in the REGL.NORM menu ?!? do you have this option on your menus ?
