converting compliant dvd files?

Post by dmz »

Ive downloaded the trial of dvd workshop as I am looking for an authoring program. I edit all my stuff in videostudio and create video files. When I tried creating a menu and burning a dvd, there doesnt seem to be the option 'dont convert compliant files" as there is in videostudio. Does this option exist in Workshop?

Yes, there are separate ones for video and audio in Edit and the corresponding tab. They are called "Convert to Disc Template" and, if checked, will convert. If checked and greyed out, it means the file is non-compliant. By default, the checkboxes are blank if the file is compliant.

THanks. I checked and they are not "checked". I assume then that it simply ignores the Disc templates setting in the Burn project to disc screen.
However, I noticed that while burning in the Burning Progress section it says "converting video of xxxxxx" and it takes quite a while. As this is a compliant file what on earth is happening here?

It converts menus, subtitles, extra audio tracks etc.

Thanks. I think my situation is a bit weirder. I have 9 mpeg files all about the same size. They were all created by vs10 with the same settings (cbr6000, PAL etc). 7 of them take about 3 seconds when displaying "converting video of xxxx". The other 2 take about 10 minutes each in the conversion phase. All of them have not got the convert to disk template checked. What I did notice is that these odd 2 have different autio settings. The 7 have mpeg audio and the 2 odd ones have dolby. I rerendered the 2 into mpeg audio to match the other 7. It still takes 10 minutes to convert them. I suspect that I have encountered a bug as I dont know what try next.

No bug, just trying to use a dolby audio with the trial version!
