Split by Scene

Post by Mdunn »

I've always used Split by scene while capturing because I like having the individual files to move around. I've just upgraded to HD and to VS11+. I'm now trying to figure out if it is possible to split by scene while capturing HD files. During a search, someone had suggested that it is possible to use split by scene when capturing to MPEG, but they didn't say how. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks!

You can't. You need the timecode from the video file to do the split. HD captures at MPEG-2 level. No time code is available. You will have to manually watch the video and make the scene cuts. I just went through this, and it's a pain staking process.

If you find software that helps with this, please post a link..

No HD Split by Scene

I too have the same issue regarding the lack of "split by scene" while capturing HD video. When I switched to HD by purchasing a HD camera and version 10.0 I had no idea this issue existed. It renders the software almost useless as it's nearly impossible to edit short clips like sports, etc.

According to support this is an issue being worked for a fix but from what I am reading it won't happen soon. Any help from ulead is appreciated as the lack of this feature is pretty serious.
