Hi
I am using Video studio 8. Just start buidling a new video presentation and receive continously Out of memort messages. Sometime The program just quits.
What can be the problem. I am using a Dell Precision M90 with 3.25 GhZ of RAM.

No, you are using (possibly) 3.25 ghz speed of CPU. You need to post your hardware profile and maybe update and clean your hardware.Jaap wrote:Hi

Seriously, clean your HD, defragment it,etc. All renderring is done to your HD, first, and if you don't have the space for the render, does not matter what software you are using, something is going to barf.
Always consider HD space before you start a new project. Always make sure you have contiguous space.. ie., all the blocks are in order
This takes a serious load off your cpu for rendering.. The final render is what you want to show off, so, make it as easy as possible for your computer to pull this off.

VS8 was notorious for having a bad 'memory leak' problem i.e. quickly using up computer resources and showing the sort of message you are receiving.
If I recall correctly, one of the VS8 patches was brought out to correct this, but I can't quite recall which one. In any case, applying all the patches is probably recommended; or better still, upgrade to a more recent, more stable version.

Jaap - The space on your hard drive is storage space not memory.
Memory basically comes in two types - real - which is your RAM size - and 'virtual' which although it is on your hard disk is not directly accessible to the user - it is used by programmes like VideoStudio to carry out the actions you have requested.
The setting for virtual memory do have to be correct though for the applications you are running and any video editor - not just VideoStudio - needs a bit more 'virtual' memory than basic computing.
Virtual memory is sometimes described as the "Paging File" and sometimes the "Swap" file - instruction for setting the correct values can be found on page 165 of your user manual where you will notice that all three terms are used in different places on the one page.
